The one from Sonic 2? No, he was retarded. The one from Sonic 3 was the only one I ever thought was sufficiently bad ass looking enough.

Metal Sonic is more bad ass, but his sprite isn't as bad ass as Mecha Sonics in Sonic 3.
How can you say that. Metal Sonic is basically just a speed bump. Mecha Sonic is both an awesome boss fight, and a really awesome final boss fight. And yeah I was talking about character design, the one from Sonic 2 looks stubby and his animation are boring as fuck.

Metal Sonic did look pretty good in Sonic Heroes.
He also had some pretty decent boss fights in Sonic 4 Ep 2 also.
