Quote from Idolon on June 9, 2011, 12:41 pmFirst map I made (for Portal) was a box room of all metal textures, a wall, and a turret. One of the walls of the room was missing. This was the first time I poked into Source.
Also, I never made my house. Maybe I should!

Quote from Pete on June 9, 2011, 1:26 pmNow there was some messing around with the Descent editor, but what Id consider my first map would be zm_spaceship for Zombie Master, which I maintain is a textbook example of why you DONT release your first map.

Quote from rellikpd on June 9, 2011, 4:02 pmMy first (good map) was made for Doom 2, and I still have it some where, if anyone plays Doom 2 I could email you the .wad, or upload it somewhere. And, if i remember correctly, that's where I first started making maps. I made some (semi-good/semi-shit) maps for Duke3d, and then TRIED to make crap loads of make for Quake. I have shit loads of shitty "myfirstmap.map"'s of just about every game engine... I wouldn't even know where to start

Quote from Summoner on June 9, 2011, 6:22 pmMy first map would be a CSS map that I needed a tut to make a block,So I made a map that I thought would be amazing but actually it was a crouch high box (long though) with AWPS on each side and a combine control panel in the CT side.
But I still don't think its my first map, I will say a map is my first map when I finally say DONE or COMPLETED and give it out to the public

Quote from NocturnalGhost on June 9, 2011, 8:24 pmMy first map was for half-life 1. It was a movie theatre, with a porn "movie" playing on a large screen.
The "movie" was actually just an animated texture consisting of 4 frames, with a woman pleasuring herself with a large red object. I was so impressed with myself at the time.

I still have the map somewhere and a couple of screenshots, but it's probably best if I don't post them.

Quote from TarekCO on June 10, 2011, 5:45 pmWell my first map..
I'm still working on it i guess
It's just a Portal 2 playground, testing every new feature the portal 2 engine has.
Still can't position world portals correctly![]()
I don't have screenshots only the map itself ;-;

Quote from Will T. on June 10, 2011, 6:32 pmI recall now that my first map wasn't actually that TF2 thing ... but that was the first thing to resemble something playable.
My REAL first map was much earlier, and was an attempt to re-create my church for HL2:DM. This was long before I knew about skybox textures, so the outside was just a cube with some weird star-field texture.
Everything was a prop_physics too. I had no clue about prop_static, prop_dynamic, or anything else yet...
I might re-attempt that project someday, starting from scratch of course.
