Well on the who moderates the moderators:
I encourage everyone to do so. If you think a moderator made a bad decision just sent them a pm and explain why you think they are wrong. We're people after all too.
If you think we make mistakes, please tell us so we can see if we can do anything about it. For example there have been complaints about the rating system: we're working on that.
The spotlights that were spotlighted for too long: fixed, now with a random new spotlight every week!
The youtube code had a lot of problems because people didn't know how to use it: we added a more flexible youtube code.
These are of course only technical things but it really shows that we as twp staff do care about the poeple who visit this website and want to help them. However there are some people that refuse to listen. Learning hammer is often a case of learning from your mistakes and listening to people and take their advice and use it to improve your skills.
If someone posts a picture with misaligned textures a lot of people will tell you that and point you out that you should fix that. Then you can use the search function and see that it's quite easy. If you refuse to listen and just continue mapping and you show a screenshot a lot later and people still see the same misaligned textures it gets frustrating: people spent time to give mappers advice on how to improve their maps and it's just ignored.
This website is not run by or controlled by valve. We can do what we want.
We choose to respect valve: we allow any thing that adds more awesomeness to portal 2 (including omnicoder's gel even though it is supposed to be removed by valve) but we won't allow illegal versions of portal 2. Questions about that will result in getting you banned from these forums. This has nothing to do with "being on a leash" by valve, it is about respect for a company that build a wonderful game. (in fact a hell of a lot awesome games)

Agree entirely. I wasn't trying to insult/diss the moderators with the "who watches the watchmen" comment. I was just trying to point out that you guys (and girls) are a) awesome b) knowledgeable c) here to help d) doing it all voluntarily and e) human, like the rest of us!
We all make mistakes. It's how we learn, deal with and progress from them that makes a difference.

One way or another it lead into me explaining as diplomatically as I could why the shenanigans happened from my point of view. He replied with this. Anyone who remembers Kizzy will know there are paragraphs more that I could quote, but I think everybody has made their point. I don't tolerate shit-talking behind people's backs.

Also we're not tame: if someone is a moron, acts like a moron they will get treated like one. If posts are too insulting moderators might step in and make it a bit less harsh but that's a call of the moderators. That's what they're supposed to do: keep the peace, for the sake of a nice community.
Unfortunately KizzyKoa apparently was a moron, I wasn't there, so I don't really know. But he's still pissed at this community. Msleeper has been pretty vocal about it so "behind someone's back" isn't really the case is it?
And if you build a good, nice and successful community would you leave because someone got upset that you banned and/or insulted him/her for not learning from their mistakes?
KizzyKoa was ridiculed because he refused to acknowledge that his talents were far below what he imagined they were. It's one thing to be bad and know you're bad and work to be better. It's another to be bad and delude yourself and everyone around you that you're awesome.
KizzyKoa was banned because, as anyone who has talked to him for more than 30 seconds will know, he takes everything said to him way too seriously and again refused to acknowledge that he acted like an immature bratty tryhard. A great songwriter once sung, "if you're gonna be dumb, you've gotta be tough."
Anyone who doubts either of these claims, I invite you to look through his post history. Highlights, in my mind, were him annoucing his project (with the mythical, grandiose list of features such as coop, DM, zombies, etc.) as "WIP" without a single shred of work begun. In fact I'm almost pretty sure he had barely learned how to use Hammer when he posted up his thread.
Both of those things go for anyone who visits here. But unlike 6,345 other current members at the time of this posting, nobody but him seems to care or make such a big deal 3+ years after the fact. Everyone else seems content to grow up, learn from mistakes, and move on. My mostly baseless guess for this is because he enjoys the attention; I say "mostly" if for no other reason than the fact that he added a "controversy" section to his project's VDC page. Personally I can't think of any reason someone would do this other than to attract drama-slash-attention, but that's just one person's guess.
Now the obvious irony here is, "but msleeper, why haven't you grown up, learned from misaktes, and moved on?" to which I have a two part answer. For one, the only mistake I've made is not shutting down the failure of a project called Portal: Access All Areas sooner and thereby probably preventing a lifetime of ridicule for the poor kid.
And two, well, because I'm a cynical misanthropic son of a bitch, and every court needs a jester.
