Video Game Awards 2011

PreviousPage 2 of 2

So who are the "gamers" who are judging these games? I put "gamers" in quote because only true gamers know how to appreciate a video game. If Skyrim is game of the year, then the "gamers" that are judging them can't judge s*** (pardon my language). I don't own Skyward Sword yet, but based on the demo I played, it's MUCH better than Skyrim. I still think Kirby's Return to Dreamland is my all time favorite, although Rayman Origins is really good also.
I don't think that these "gamers" even took the time to play games all the way through.

Crazy is as crazy does.

It's less that I like finding bugs or that I have a grudge against Skyrim, and more that a studio as huge as Bethesda and a series like Skyrim with a reported budget around $25 million can be shipped with the amount and level of bugs that it has in release. And what's worse is that 9 times out of 10 that I mention this, I get a handful of responses varying from "of course a game as big as Skyrim is going to have bugs" to "the community always patches the bugs" and the worst of "the bugs are part of Bethesda's charm".

I don't know what they've been putting in people's water, but it astounds me that people can be as complacent with a studio releasing title after title that have major flaws in them. And this is ignoring that the patches they've released have made things only worse. I'm sure the game is fun, I definitely don't have the sort of free time to play a game like that, but if you are happy to look past the problems then you're being had.

Looks like Dr. Breen has a new job in making more of his Private Reserve.
I'd like to be the 1 of 10 people that complains about bugs. I don't like how people can be "blind" to the fact that some games (not just Skyrim) end up being rushed and end up having a ton of bugs in it. Sometimes bugs are alright depending on the circumstances, but having too many bugs in a game is unprofessional.

I dont think they care very much as long as they make it profitable.

That too.

I appreciate that Portal 2 has won 5 awards. Still, it would deserve the title 'Game of the year'. Valve put so much love and thought into this game and the voice acting is excellent. I'm so glad Ellen McLain and Stephen Merchant are the winners.
