Actually, I prefer the P2 style, but Portal 1 style is like something totally different, so it's not really a comparison issue at least what I think.

p1 style seems more beta-y... if that makes sense...

Yeah, but there are also more compact chambers.

It might be interesting if you changed the laser models to energy pellet models (while keeping the laser; just the model chanes).

Use RenderMode=10 to make the laser model invisible while stopping the particles from appearing at the origin.
