[SP] Paradox

Quote from Ratboy on June 6, 2011, 5:59 pmjust got on here to say I love the concept, want more of it, doesn't make total sense but still neat, also
past box gets lost if left in the future, but I just read about the reset button, so no problem, but I would recommend making it more noticeable.
However it seems everybody has covered this for you. Good work!

Quote from Mevious on June 14, 2011, 2:22 amCool idea but for some reason the starting elevator didn't work for me. I restarted the map a few times but every time the elevator just sat there and didn't move down to the destination. I had to noclip to the entrance. Have others had this problem?
Edit: False alarm... sort of. I'll copy and paste what I wrote in another thread.
Mevious wrote:In this case, I experimented a little more and found that the elevator works but only if it's the first map started after a game restart. If I start the game, play a map, then play paradox, the elevator won't work. It's a strange bug and I've only seen it hereIt's not a huge problem, but it's something worth looking into once the competition is over.

Quote from NuclearDuckie on June 15, 2011, 11:24 amI can't help but notice I didn't use a single portal in this level. 😛
But great idea for a mechanic. I can see something similar to this working to create some pretty complex map puzzles (portal from past/future?), perhaps with a less rigid method of time-travel.
Apparently Gabe Newell didn't like the idea of recording oneself creating portals though, so I don't know how well this could combine with that "Prometheus" concept.

So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.

Quote from mouse on February 12, 2012, 9:33 pmI was kind of dumbfounded when I kept losing cubes and confused why cubes kept disappearing when left with the laser. Then I figured out it was a time machine. That's when I started going back and forth through time to see how many cubes I could stockpile. I had enough cubes to bend the laser around the time machine several times and still open the final door. Once you figure out it's a time machine the test becomes too short. It's also kind of weird to even have a portalgun in this test when it's completely unnecessary. But all in all I had fun with it. A great test and I hope to see this idea expanded on. 5/5
It's also possible to push the button and run out the door before it closes, leaving you trapped in that time. You might want to consider moving the button closer to the back or putting a button next to the door to open it.
It was barely funny in single player and even less funny when you do it. Knock it off.
