I think you need to make the hole in the upper glasswindow smaller to prevent this.
You're right, this was possible. Edit: ah I see Jacu has done it as well. I made another update in v1.3 which just adds a glass panel to prevent this shooting angle. The intended solution is certainly not some evil special trick, it's just a bit different. Feel free to upload videos any time now. Mine is ready to go if you guys want.

I'd appreciate a video. I feel like I've tried every possible angle to get the stairs in room 1 going without success.

Thanks, sicklebrick, grayarea was so kind to send me a hint via PM as well. To post this, I'm taking a short break from banging my head against the wall for not finding this myself, I was so close.
Anyways, what do I find upstairs? Yet another fizzler in the way! 
I love it. This one is obviously brutally difficult but doesn't seem to need the super evil techniques that made Enigma for example unsolvable for me.

It will activate stairs for a sec and you can enter upper area. I know, that it deactivates laser, but there is a way to activate it again ^^ Will do a vid this evening
