Online Portals!

apprently someone over at the Steam forum's have found a way to play with portals online =o here's the link

Yeah, sadly we're going to have to wait until the SDK Base update to make functional Portal mods.

Very promising that they got that much done without the official sdk or anything. Just think of what (and how fast) they can whip something up once it's out.

If I read it right, they didn't really get anything "done", they just took advantage of the fact that a single player game is the same as a multi-player except with a max-player limit of 1 and that doesn't respond to server pings. Essentially, they tricked a single player game into handling connection requests by just running "net_start", which normally wouldn't be allowed if they hadn't launched with the "-insecure -dev" flag.

Lets all remake the Portal missions but lets make it "Thinking with Portals" style.

If we all put the effort in, then we could have the game up and going in within... 2 months after the sdk is released? :D
