Well, it's a good thing you got it removed before it got too serious. Otherwise, it would have been a little bigger and more painful. The appendix is pretty small.

Why do appendices exist anyway? They are useless and can kill you / be incredibly painful.

I've always heard it's a vestigial organ from when whatever precursor to homo sapien was more plant-eating than we became, tens of thousands of years ago. Back when we were tree dwellers and ate leaves and twigs and fruit and shit. It helped in the digestion of plant matter.

Nice to hear that you're geting better msleeper! Enjoy your meds :wink:

I had a heavy pain near the appendix area a couple of times in the past and I was betting they had to do me surgery, but finally it wasn't the appendix, but something else... so I keep it... I feel like it is there waiting the right moment to explode :notwant:

Yeah, that's what everyone used to think, but recently some science dudes have been finding a few (obscure) things that it's actually used for.
