I love this concept. I hope to see some very unique maps made in the future with this element.

Glad you did! :)

Nice. Light bridge the new laser. Now you just need some adjustable reflectors.

Yeah, about that. I don't quite know how to reflect bridges. :

I can see some interesting puzzles with this in singleplayer but I think it's gonna be the best in multiplayer! Can't wait to see a mp map with this :D

EDIT:
One thing I didn't really like is the high contrast between the dark metal and light metal textures. I would have preferred having only one of the two.

Well, I thought the level would seem boring to have only shade of metal. :

Here's an idea: how about a rotating hlb with different orientated hlb-receivers?

Nah, it won't :) The official valve clean levels also only have one color metal!

Pretty straight forward, but as a proof of concept it was amazing. Can't wait to see more (in numbers and complexity) of this. ;)

Free Thought

As stated in the description, I did not know about the other map that consisted the 'light activators' while making and uploading this map.

Doesn't seem like a problem if you ask me. Plenty of 'new' test elements have been executed many times before. For instance, I wasn't the first to use world portals, and plenty of people have used anti-gravity chambers or things like that. If a concept is any good, it has almost definitely been used before.

Also, and this is not meant to hurt Jexim as Free Thought is a decent map, definitely as a first map, but he/she didn't work out the exact same element in his/her map. You seem to appreciate the inner workings of the learning curve, and that's something I can relate to. ;)

Having said that, it's important that you can work out nice puzzles with the concept, and make good-quality maps. That will make or break your succes, and to be honest, I think you'll do just fine. Also, still anxiously awaiting your Weightless Cubes, as I have no clue what you intend to do with them. :)

TL;DR: I hope you won't get discouraged by seeing another map with this element. The same goes for other people, ofcourse. Nobody patented this, or any other element.

Nah, I won't. The Weightless cube is quite a boring concept.

Spoiler
To activate the button whilst the cube is on the button, you have to use a tractor beam to 'push' the cube down.
