Oh, and part 2:
Loved this also! So much crammd into the little space! Compared to the first map it was a little easy (even the intended solution), but it's a good puzzle, and there was something lovely about the greenery in the water.. looked a bit more real, like the inside of an abandoned dam or something

Quote from El Farmerino on April 23, 2012, 12:00 pmI did it exactly the same way as zivi, which I assumed is the intended way. I didn't quite understand his explanation of how he got from there into
a funnel with the cube suspended above the room
, but I think he'll probably kick himself when he realises how simple it is... I can't make a video, but I'll try to upload a .dem file in a bit.
EDIT: Done.

All feedback welcome!

Great way to solve no. 2. I can't get such cube throws done, instead I let the cube drop from the higher ledge. I'll try to do a recording of it.
Edit: @Farmerino: This is how I did it in the end (sorry, it takes me three tries in this video). It didn't feel right though, looking forward to seeing your demo:

Quote:Yes! Finally did Chamber 1! This has to be one of my happiest Portal moments ever:What more can I ask for??? Glad you enjoyed the puzzle. It's straightforward deductive thinking for the first cube. Isn't it the aha-moments we enjoy?
Hope you'll enjoy the rest as well...
@inaxQuote:am i supposed to spawn without the portalgun in map 2 ?As Jose already wrote this is most likely an issue that only you have experienced so far. I unfortunately can't think of any cause for that right now and therefore am unable to help you.
I assume that you tried to reload the map and/or restarted Portal.@Logic
I second zivi7 opinion. As long as you can make sure that there is no mistake on part of the mapper and you know that it is solvable you should go on trying.
I have to admit that I have given up so many times in the past. After watching the solution or reading the spoilers I often regretted that, though.@zivi7
Feel free to upload whatever you like. Everyone can decide for himself/herself if he/she wants to watch or not. I should appreciate it very much, thank you.
I only asked Jose to wait a little longer since he already knows the intended solutions. It's sometimes so tempting to simply click that play button@markiu
Quote:This is a very nice pack! The visuals are awesome and the puzzles seem very nice too.
Sadly in some cases the design makes it very hard to see whats going on... For example the windows are very hard to see. ( Map3)You're probably right; a few aspects are indeed a little overdone or not optimised. As for the glass I really thought about either increasing the reflectivity or making them less transparent but I didn't like either option. Might give it another try. There's always a point when you have to say okay that's enough so far. Else you would endlessly continue tweaking and trying to make things better.
After all there's always something to mend...Quote:I think I solved every map unintended so I'll upload my firstrun solution later.
There are some issues that I don't like (You will see in my video) but overall this is a great pack and I had lots of fun playing this so I give it a 5.Thanks for commenting and rating, I am looking forward to watch your vid(s)...

Quote:I was working all weekend and I've been dying to give this a shot since I saw it listed. It didn't disappoint! I've only had a chance to do puzzle 1 so far, but it's been great! Liking the unique design, the difficulty level, the custom elements.. all fun! I sure as hell didn't solve it the intended way - I could see what was expected, but it was too fiddly... so this counts :pWow! I have to talk with the developers at Valve's to implement a func_chain_the_player_and_bind_his_legs
Btw, I already know how to take away the portal-gun...
You at least did not violate the basic principle of bringing the cube to dot1, thank youOf course it counts. Reminded me of MaiTai's way of circumventing the intended solution. He even came up with a solution that was better than mine but would have required tearing down the tower construction and rebuilding the whole room.

I did wonder about letting it drop slowly, but couldn't really see anywhere to give my slow ass time to get into position :pneco wrote:Of course it counts.I like the way you think
Part 3, nice and short ^^ sorry it picked up my shitty music.

But since the first solutions are coming, I'll post my way to get up the funnel, too. It does not contain the next step to get the cube into the button 1 area though.
Mann Zivi, noch so'n paar Dinger und ich geb mir die Kugel...
No seriously guys, I can't keep up with you. Might have been a rather bad date to release the map. I have so little time right now.
Don't know if I'll be able to fix all the exploits you found so far......

theledge1.zipThe second part was at least almost the intended way. Thanks for the dem!
Very creative way of bringing the cube up.
