[SP] sp_wits_maybe_finalv2

Version 2 of sp_wits_maybe_final. More puzzles, betterish map. There are several ways to solve the main puzzle, this was not an oversight(again).

Spoiler:The button/laser only needs to be activated once to turn the gels on.

You can just upload a new version of the map, you don't need to make it an entirely new file. Go to your previous map and hit Edit, and then upload a new ZIP file.

And, please, either ZIP or RAR or in some way compress your maps. Thanks.

Nice map.

Spoiler
What is the purpose of the button in the first room and the orange gel? I was able to solve the level with only the blue and without ever pressing the button.

Nice enough map.

Spoiler
I was wondering what was the purpose of the orange gel and all the cubes in the funnel chamber ?
I could only assume u wanted testers to use the cubes to get on the raised platform in the laser room so they can tip the cube over? If thats the case there is another way to tip cubes.. if u stand on them and then move to the edge of the cube a bit sometimes even crouch it will tip the cube and then u can just body push the cube into position atleast thats how i did it.

Good effort!!! :D Keep'em coming and ill keep testing :P

Puzzles aren't noxious to health, which is something (

Spoiler
funnels & final jump
were good). The few loose ends in the puzzles weren't necessarily bad.

Just work on the looks, like this it seems like in you're in a giant box: be in a giant sphere instead! A few grills in mid air, for Old Aperture style, seem to accomplish much with few resources.

the hills are alive... with the sound of music

As mentioned, there is still no use for

Spoiler
the orange gel
. I'm assuming that in the second room there are so many cubes because there is no dispenser, and if you run out of cubes, that's it. This seems like it could be fixed by simply adding a cube dispenser where the cubes are currently piled. If there is not enough room, simply raise the ceiling in this room slightly, there's nothing above it so it shouldn't matter. Every problem in the first room still exists, there is literally no use for the intermediate levels in this room,
Spoiler
as you can immediately portal up to the top level, and place your launch portal from there
In fact, now that I think about it, that might even be a necessary part of the puzzle in order to get momentum. It seems like you could fix the redundancy by having
Spoiler
the button on the intermediate level of the first room reveal the angled panel above it, instead of the wall panel that serves no purpose
. Also, I'm not sure what the raised platform is for in the laser room. I realize that you have to
Spoiler
orient the cube upward, but that can be done by using the button in this room, and is actually much easier that way

I think the

Spoiler
orange goo is meant to be placed between the walls where the step 2(2 dots) sign is on the ground level, but I can't tell what that is supposed to accomplish. I thought it could be an alternate way of building momentum for the final fling, but it's impossible.(or maybe just really hard?)

Alternate final fling method: (this one isn't impossible, but may require a crouch jump)

Spoiler
Instead of that long narrow shaft...
First cover a bunch of the ground level with blue goo(use the portable wall behind the collapsed wall, that will spread enough to do this easily). Then go up top and make the spot of blue goo that you normally would. You might want to quick-save now. Jump from that blue spot out to the blue goo you spread out below. after a couple jumps you should be jumping as high as the ceiling. Place portals on the high angled surface and below you to do the fling. The rest pretty much happens the normal way, but this method just barely gets you to the exit if you hold forward or crouch in midair to reach that far ledge across the toxic water.

Lastly, the wall that collapses will re-trigger if you walk over by the entrance again. It will keep rebuilding itself and collapsing as much as you want. Kind of amusing.

It took me forever to see the opening to the laser room. Some connecting dots wouldn't have hurt. Otherwise, I liked the puzzles; as simple as they were, they were still a little bit of fun. Just a 3/5 from me.

Basic Mod for playing .vpk files Needs to be updated for dlc2, but still works[/spoiler]

I just remembered I put this map here. And over 1500 downloads, awesome.

This is my first map released online. I really rushed it, took me about 10-12 hours total over course of 2 days. Looking back there are lots of things I could have done better, but I just wanted to get it out and forget about it. I would have made a video of how I pictured the puzzles being done, but I when I tried to use the demoui thing it wouldn't save anything, so I gave up.

I've been thinking about making some more maps once the dlc is out, so watch out for more maps. The whole process of making this map has made me realize that I need to give myself more time, and need to learn a lot more about hammer, lighting, and visuals.

Thanks for all the downloads.

Decent look, puzzle was not difficult. I did not need the propulsion gel at all.

Raised platform in the laser room was not necessary. You can tip a reflectocube to point upward by standing on it, facing the same direction as the lens, then croudhing and inching backward off of it.

No bugs or glitches that I found (not that I was searchign for them), but not a whole lot of puzzle here, either. Good, short map, so 3/5 from me.
