Quote from CrazyGuy on June 8, 2011, 7:09 pmnot bad, it did look a lot like the demo at e3. But a couple of problems. First: The second area (down and to the right) where you go up and hit the button then quickly propel through the gel and fling up to the faithplates: I found that part REALLY annoying, for two reasons. One, the timer was way too short, only JUST long enough to press it. I found myself frantically stopping, running forward to shoot the portals then backing up to get enough speed in time to do the fling. Second: for each one of the levels after that you have to go back down and do the fling thing again, seriously compounding the issue.
Otherwise the rest of the areas in your "offshoot area" were nice. The funnel part looked like it was going to be super tricky but it turned out to be ok (I actually got it the first time)
One strange bug, I don't know if anyone else got this, but after getting the cube to the end of the maze, before figuring out that I need to fling to get the cube out, I instead fired the funnel at the angled surface and used it to go back up to the button. When I did this and tried to strafe out, the funnel physics kept effecting me no matter how far away I tried to go from it, and then the game crashed when I tried to disconnect it by firing a portal. Probably meaningless and unreproduceable, but worth mentioning. Finally, the zoom through the crushers: I think the timing is a little off. Do the crushers activate a stationary trigger_hurt between each pair? Because I found myself dying before actually getting hit by the spikes on the first several runs. My only way to get past it was to start running and hit the crushers really early just after they hit and before they open up so I was actually running through part of the prop.
Hope this helps
3/5 pretty good but not winning material

Quote from xdiesp on June 8, 2011, 8:00 pmWell done, I had wanted to play a decent version of the E3 map for some time! All reconstructions so far were too incomplete, at least now it looks like a proper map - with a definite goal and everything.
Still glitchy I'm afraid: you can fall on the lower beams at the crushers ramp, and be stuck there (couple white floors maybe); bringing the lasercube to the door allows you to skip the 2nd new puzzle; not to mention how reaching the door without a cube gets you stuck too. If you need testers to keep fixing it, I can help.
If I may suggest, since in the intended solution the actual E3 part comes last, you could input the elevator in the new level and open the E3 when completing the fizzlers test.

So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.

Quote from grent on July 14, 2011, 5:19 amA nice map, but it does have some issues. The two big ones have already been addressed:
If you do the crusher part first, you're stuck at the end
and
the timer for the laser/fling puzzle is frustratingly short
. Also, I don't know if this was just me, but I had to hit the button for the propulsion gel twice before it would actually release. Good work expanding on the E3 map, though!
