[SP] First

Hi all
I'm releasing, as you can see my first map
It's a one-room map but I made it as difficult as I can imaginate it for now
It contains :
Deadly turrets, deadly toxic slime, deadly discouragement gird, laser, tractorbeam, gels, buttons,cubes,cameras...
Please feedback if you like it or even if not so I can improve it later or make better maps after
I hope you'll enjoy

For this update
I made the doors and the walls very better
I prevent Chell to kills the turrets with the tractorbeam
And prevent The player to mke a portal just behind the tractor
And delete the propulsion gel

Also, nice puzzle. For a first map, I was impressed. Does require some thinking. Needless to say, the map itself does need a bit of work. 3/5 :thumbup:

Well it's a first post, "my first map" release, and the screenshot makes it look fullbright.

The doors need to be properly fitted. You can get stuck in the entrance elevator area if you quickly move back whilst walking through the door. Most textures are misaligned. You can also

aim the laser at a right angle to the catcher and it will still 'catch' the laser
. One thing I found was that the

turrets were too easy to take out, considering you have made nearly every surface a white wall apart from the ceiling and the part where the toxic water is

This map needs a lot of work to make it a good map.

EDIT: Just looked at the .vmf file...my god...it's sooooo messy. Your map is surrounded by a giant box?...that's a bad mapping thing to do.

msleeper, the reason for it looking fullbright is down to the lights he uses. The one light he uses in the main room is set to 2000 with a maximum distance of '99999999...'. It's not fullbright, but may look like it from the screenshot.

...it also looks like a salad. Truth be told, it doesn't play 100% playground. Me, I think that maps can be judged by the little room connecting the first elevator with the rest:

Yeah I know for the doors.
and I know that I have to update it for the textures, and the doors.
this first version is made for I know If it wasn't too difficult or too easy.
I'll make an update in a few time

Go to your original post and click Edit. You will have the opportunity to upload a new version of the file (give the file a different name or it won't work) and edit your original post if you want. You can even upload a new thumbnail, if I'm not mistaken.

From a gameplay perspective, not a bad map at all. From a visual perspective... not so great. Here's just one example of my least favourite visual issue in maps:

As you can see - misaligned textures make this otherwise quite enjoyable map look poorly constructed. Needs work on detailing but other than that, not a bad first job at all.
