Quote from quatrus on February 3, 2013, 1:26 pmGreat timing; part 5. I played part 4 before a 3 week vacation to Indonesia and see part 5 go up when I get back .... not sure my jet lag will help in playing before the Super Bowl starts....
Edit 1: Great map, not that easy with the bridge jumps around poles and walls.
I didn't get a cube through a grid (?), never tried... Picked up the two cubes with portal fling from bridge - one inside the fizzler wall and one outside next to the fizzler control plate grabbing en passe and placing cubes and strafing Chell on exit shelf
. Thanks for creating the series.....Nice decayed theme, maybe could use some sounds.....

Quote from Shakky on February 3, 2013, 1:58 pmGreat one! Not too hard to solve hungover but still gives you a good challenge. Great ending leaves me wanting more.
The map was so great I'll go and record my solution video. It will be here later today. Most of it felt intended but are you supposed to be able to
pick up the cube through the grid in the last puzzle room
.
Awesome work. Easy 5/5.
EDIT:
Here is my solution video:

Do you mean
the part where you have to move the cube off the button by reaching through the grill (intended) or did a cube glitch through a grill, had a lot of trouble with func_clipvphysics
Quote from PCdoc on February 3, 2013, 3:54 pmGreat - I love this series. Excellent environments with medium difficulty and parts that make you stop and think for a while. 4.5 out of 5
For this one I recorded my 2nd run-through.
The part that took me a while was the timed flipper surface - just didn't see the trick to it at first. And - off in the side room, that delayed fizzler concept for the cube is a great idea. I haven't seen that one before. Gave me a "WTF?" moment.

Quote from lifeson99 on February 3, 2013, 6:31 pmBy "next map" do you mean Part 6 ? Ohhh man - say it ain't so. Not even in your Recycle bin I suppose.
This map was a blast and gives a lot of playtime. My fav's are the deconstruction themes.
Wasted time looking for a companion cube in the beginning when I saw the incinerator and the regular weighted storage cube did nothing. Kind of a flashback to Portal 1 only
this things eats 3 cubes and one of them was hidden under the steps
- LOL.Then later I got stuck on the fizzling cube thing until I realized that you can actually
shoot into that 6-inch gap to place a portal underneath the fizzler - and have to quickly shoot another as it shoots upward out the other platform
. Wicked.

Quote from LoneWolf2056 on February 3, 2013, 11:48 pmManaged to decompile an older version of the map I lost, have to redo a lot of work
, still better than starting from scratch
Anyway Shakky, fricken EPIC speed run of my map, love your final solution, its purely accidental you can do that, I didnt even realise, Josepezdj said I needed more texture variation so it was purely random that I put white tiles there, awesome nonetheless

PCdoc you also did things the hard way too xD, very clever
throwing the box out, you could have just respawned
and there is a much easier solution to the end
you can shoot the light bridge the highest point from behind the grill without having to jump around the place
Thanks for the videos, fun to watch, interesting seeing the varied solutions, glad you enjoyed

lifeson99
you know when you press the button the fizzler turns off, you could have just placed the portal then, though I made the placement helper large enough it shouldnt be too hard if you want to try fitting under the gap
Quote from RogerL on February 4, 2013, 3:32 pmAnother nice puzzle with varied puzzles and useful BTS area. I was a little confused at the beginning because once I dumped the first cube into the incinerator, the fan came on and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to do with the other two cubes. But maybe that was intentional. The lighted signboard is portable, which made several of the steps easier to do, especially since you can sniper the board while standing on the fizzler button in the side room, but, other than that, I thought it was a great addition to your series.
