[SP] Deja Vu

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Thank you for this map, it's a rare gem of design :)
When i picked up the second cube i felt like the king of Portal, and then i think "ok now with 2 cubes it's an easy work"... well... it took me one more hour of hard thinking to solve it!!!

Hallo, "king of Portal", wellcome to the community. I'm glad my work brings new ppl here.

God bless the quick save's inventor...(Portal: Prelude)

I'm here to join the loser's club (hello jose) and admit defeat. After some hours of headache I watched the demo to end the pain. Congratz for making such a hard puzzle. Maybe there should be a warning how BLOODY hard it is.

Hehe... well, even though I admitted I didn't eventually find the intended solution, I can't consider myself as a loser because I did find one solution :p

Et tu, jose? Fine, so I'm the only member in this lonely club.

Some thoughts on the puzzle from a loser's perspective: It's possible to get trapped on the other side and then you have to kill yourself or you could get stuck between the light bridges and you have to reload the map. I'm sure you are aware of this and allowed those situations to occur to keep the design simple and clean. It's understandable since the chamber is so small, but it hurts the trust towards the puzzle.

Spoiler
Maybe this led to me using the help of noclip to get the exact portal placements when I figured out how to get the second cube, which is kind of a defeat in itself. That was the easy part compared to what follows next, pretty bad prospects for an already unsettled player. While watching the solution most steps seemed familiar, I had thought of the approximate path without bringing all of it together. I've dismissed the idea of jumping off the cube because 1.) not sure if that jump would work at all, and 2.) too outlandish, it would feel to me like a break.
At the time you can't help but wonder if there is a smoother way. That's why I think the puzzle should come with the advice that the way to the solution can be tough and rough.
