[SP] Chander Test 3

PreviousPage 2 of 2

It's been a while since I played the prior version, so when I walked in the room, I said, "Holy crap, not this one again!" However, without the initial frustration of figuring it out, I got through it without breaking my F7 key. Also, you simplified the puzzle quite a bit. I vaguely recall an overhead room with a rather hinky laser switch.

I would place the fizzler on the funnel a little farther out. Hitting the portal and pushing out of the funnel were very tight. If you could drop a little farther and still see the portal surface, it would ease the frustration level.

It wouldn't hurt to pretty up the map, too. Vary the textures, trim the corners with smaller panels, and brighten up the hall leading to the lightbridge (the edge is almost invisible.)

Maybe I'm just getting to be a better player, or my expectations of a Chander map's difficulty are higher now, but I found this one to have a well-designed puzzle with only moderate execution difficulty. 3/5 from me, but damn close to a 4.

It's easy to see why the mapmaker provided no signs or indicator lights, because figuring out what everything does (or does not,

in the case of the laser relay
) is about the only puzzle element this map has. The solution is too linear because there are so few portable surfaces and most of those have grates over them. Not as sophisticated or satisfying as some of this mapmapmaker's other maps.
