Quote from Saturn on September 4, 2011, 11:21 amPretty difficult map. Can't say much more because i'm still stuck. Not sure what to do next.
I don't know what to do to get the laser through the relay or how switching the funnel is helpful atm. What i did do is get the regular cube to the other site where the buttons are. I was able to drop it on the button that switches the funnel but after that i'm more or less stuck, so i think that the last part i need to do.
So, i placed the cube on the button that removes the fizzler from the end of the funnel. I dropped into the funnel and placed an exit on the ceiling above, so i was slowly edging towards the laser cube. I grabbed 3 laser cubes and put them next to the relay. I kept the 2 cubes that activated the hard-light bridge. Now, i tried to changes the laser direction using the first of them but it seems that no matter what, i can't lower the laser enough to pass it through the relay. I managed to do it when i hold the cube in a different angle, but it doesn't work ofc when i leave it. Also, i'm not sure what activating the relay does because i couldn't look around while holding the cube.
Any hints? The map could use 'signage' of what each button and the relay is responsible for.

So the laser relay doesn't play into the puzzle at all? :

I hope this is only a beta version.

Quote from xdiesp on September 7, 2011, 6:39 amAs short maps in Clean style go, this one looks subpar but it's worth mentioning how difficult the puzzle inside plays. Sometimes for the wrong reasons, as there are no indicators whatsoever (dotted lines, signs) which especially in the lightbridge run will frustrate players away. You just can't see the cube while running: how about a ticking sound? To make the puzzle less random, not easier.
Until you add signs and give a second thought to the skinning (so that wall tiles aren't split in half all the time), consider this unplayable.

Quote from Saturn on September 7, 2011, 7:09 amDid you use the laser relay in solving the puzzle?
Also, i saw that a newer version of the map was uploaded but when i tried it out for a second i didn't notice if there had been any changes.

So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:GvU-xIj42Bo

Quote from Yorgn on November 18, 2011, 5:23 pmThat was a very though and one of the most interesting puzzle I've ever played. I don't know what's the intended solution, but I found an alternative to the solution shown in the walkthroughs above. That alternative is much more convoluted but avoid the difficult
shot behind the fizzler while jumping in the portal
at the end. It is also more exciting so that I would suggest to make the other solution impossible by
simply putting a roof above the fizzler
. Basically it is possible
to steal one of the reflecor cube on the pillars by jumping from the blue excursion beam (going down from the roof) onto the pillars that hold them, and then jump back into the beam (all the while having the normal cube disabling the fizzler at the end of the excursion funnel to ensure your way back). You have to go on a pillar twice though, because the first time you have to redirect the beam to bypass one of the other cube while keeping the lightbridge on, as you need it to get back on the other side. The second time you jump again on a pillar and steal the cube that has been by-passed. You can then use this cube to disable the fizzler protecting the end of the excusrion beam, while putting the normal cube on the beam inverter.
On the downside, the laser relay is indeed not necessary and in fact spoiled my fun a bit, because I spent ages trying to activate it. What's worse, I actually managed to do it, albeit with great pain, only to find out it has no visible effect
. I would get rid of it. Alterntatively, if the laser relay was made to open the exit door, so that you HAVE to activate it, this map would reach new heights of evil

Quote from Varakir on November 26, 2011, 7:58 pmI quite like this map, it's a difficult puzzle but as long as you're doing regular saves it's easy enough to test theories without being massively frustrating.
Getting the light bridge timing right is a nuisance ( a metronome to count would be nice) and the relay is really confusing as I also didn't need it at all.
