[SP] 2 Props 1 Cube

Come into a room where you have to go through a few linked laser puzzles to get to a button which gives access to a light bridge and will then require a series of light bridge based puzzles to get to a box.

This is my first complete map and it has been a learning experience. I'm aware I have a very poor judgement of size within hammer, hopefull I'll be able to better address that in future maps.

Either way, I hope you enjoy it for what it is.

Name one first timer stigma and you'll find it in the map, from razor thin corners skinned as walls to sliding panels reminiscent of Quake. But it's not all bad: the last room is something you might have never seen, and overall puzzle quality ingenious. Just wait until the mapping skills catch up with that.

the hills are alive... with the sound of music

haha, I know right. Funny you mention Quake, Quake 1 was the last time I ever made a map for a game.

Thanks for the compliment on the puzzles though.

The puzzles were good, some unique ideas here.

There's also some things that weren't so great:

Spoiler
1) It took me a bit to figure out what to do first, which is fine(I was a bit unobservant), but when I did connect the laser to get to the cubes the dark door was in such a dark corner that I didn't notice it so I went looking around for the effect of connecting the laser.

2) It can be a little tricky to place a cube on the ground in the right place when there is a wall at your back. Try to leave a bit more room.

3) The mini button that makes the light bridge useful doesn't have any indication of what it does. I did figure it out quickly because when nothing happened in my immediate surroundings I figured it must do something in the first room with all the so far unused puzzle elements.

4) When I got to the very last Funnel(the fast one you use as a way to fling across a gap in the walkthru video) I had no idea what to do. It's a cool trick now that I know, but I just didn't think to try that. I ended up using the flying glitch to get across there.

Thanks for nice puzzles though.

what is the

Spoiler
flying glitch?

my next map will have indicators. I figured people would figure out what the button did easily. And on the

Spoiler
funnel light bridge I wanted people to realize they are practically flung out and that be the hint for the next one.

Thanks for the feedback and you're welcome.

Everything Adair said.

Also, I got trapped in the little room with the 2 cubes, because I bumped the laser with the cube and the door knocked the cube out of my grip and me into the little room.

The inconsistency of the laser targets bugged me. One target turns off a laser grill permanently, the next one doesn't.

If it weren't for the clever combination of the lightbridge and funnels, I would have given this a 2. Just 3/5 for me.

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
