Playtester with Stream

I'd like to run your tests.

And I've set up a stream so you can watch while I attempt it. http://www.livestream.com/testsubject420

Post links to any map you would like me to attempt.

When ever I'm streaming I'll be playing portal 2 maps, or building them, but I mostly don't bother streaming me building.

This is a play-testing tool, I'm not here to speed run your map and expect me to try to 'break' it, use 'incorrect' paths and glitch. If I manage any of these, I will go back and attempt it properly, once I've exposed the problem.

Don't give me hints unless I ask for them.
A roughly 30 min limit has been put in place when the stream is busy, and an author who comes into the stream will get priority to watch their map.
I will gladly play a map I have already played if you've made changes to it.
If I decide your map is too hard or too boring, that's it, I'm done with it, bring me a rebuild to play if you want, but if I decide the same then sorry.

I WILL FROM TIME TO TIME USE NOCLIP and other cheats this is usually to get back somewhere if I have to do it repetitively or if I'm going back after finding a glitch or new path, but it maybe because I've decided I'm bored with the map and just want to try the next bit, before completely giving up on the map.

Feel free to add me on steam if you want, if you see I'm playing portal 2 it pretty much means my stream is up, my profile is http://steamcommunity.com/id/Tank420/

I'm pretty honest, if you don't like what I say don't take it personally, there are plenty of tests that are technically good, but I might not enjoy them. I try to offer constructive criticism and ideas on how I think you can improve.

On a final note; I'm sure many of you may notice this is my first post and this is pretty much a shameless plug for my stream, well again, it's fine if you don't want to use it, don't. I've been streaming for only a few weeks, but I'm told being able to watch someone play their maps has been invaluable. Here's a final link to the thread I've been using on the steam forums http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2715518 so you can see the reaction I've had.

hey chickenmobile, seems i can't pm yet, i'm too new.

Yeah tbh i've been thinking of joining the forums for a little bit, back when peti came out i joined the steam group and have been sat in the chat room there for days, then i thought, the forum was probably a better place to connect with the community.

i have started using hammer very recently and i'm getting there, as a learning project i started remaking the portal 1 chambers, i have only got as far as the very first elevator, but haven't put the elevator in, http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=73240206

i tried using hammer before but having NO 3d experience it just boggled me, with the peti builder i was able to make some very simple rooms and backwards engineer some things, then i started on the portal 1 project. i have been thinking of decompliling all the portal 1 maps and fixing/using them, but it defeats the object of me doing it.

Anyway, yeah, GLaD to be here, and yeah i do plan on sticking round.

Congrats, you have three posts now, you should be able to sent pm's now ;)

Personally I don't like the re-creation of portal 1 levels. In general I see this as a lack of inspiration. Sure, portal 1 was great and it would look better in portal 2 but a lot who played portal 2 also played 1. Those who haven't played portal 2 they can quite easily complete it with the knowledge of portal 2.

Besides there are two mods currently in development that both contain complete re-makes of the original and more: Portal De-Ja-Vu and Portal alive and kicking. So re-creating one map feels like a waste, though it might help you with getting to know hammer :)

yeah it's purely a learning tool, i mean there's been a fair bit of interest in the one part i've done, and plenty of criticism too, for not being exactly true, like i've made the walls a bit grungy. i don't think i will continue it as a main project. when i am building i've been far more involved in a chamber i'm working on which is a set of 2 tests, joined by a corridor, which leads back to itself(difficult to explain).

but i've been spending most of my time testing other peoples test recently and not really getting to do much in the way of building, i did waste a couple of hours the other day making my house in hammer, but then decided it would be more fun to put that in left for dead 2, rather than portal
