Noisey tube elevator

Yep, they need unique names to work, and the triggers you probably deleted.

Falsi sumus crusto!

didn't even touch them

Just when I think I understand the system, it changes on me.

Are your two parts of the elevator modified from the same one? Rename the master and slave video screens to something else, Notepad++ with find-and-replace might be useful. And edit the video splitter for your new triggers.

Ugh, sounds confusing. Im going to have to look up tutorials for this one, aren't I?

EDIT: i followed this step by step, except the unrelated scripts, and it still didn't work.

Does the dlc conflict with this or something?

Seriously? You must be joking. From this response I'm guessing you never use instances, huh. I mean it's not like instances are premade puzzle pieces or anything. They don't do complex things so you don't have to figure out how to do it yourself or anything.

What I am saying is there is nothing wrong with using someone else's work so long as they agree to let you. josepezdj, try thinking about your first time mapping before you start harping on "learning to do it yourself". Ok? I love to figure out how Valve does certain things, but that doesn't mean I bother to do it myself if there method works. I see no reason why Fractured should have to do this for himself if someone has already come up with an elegant solution. It's collaboration. All the best art is a collaboration of like minds. Portal 2 levels are no exception.

Oh and by the way, the smiley at the end does NOT help "soften the blow" of your rather mean comment.

Wow! That was...uh, yeah. Just, yeah.

That's a rather mean comment (protoborg's), don't you think? Josepezdj has a point too. In my opinion, FelixGriffin SHOULD upload his instance for Fracture. BUT! Fracture should not take it for granted by just using it and doing nothing else. He should at least see what FelixGriffin had done to the instance to make it work, compare Fracture's and FelixGriffin's tube elevator, and learn from it, so that at least Fracture learns something rather than just using it and doing nothing else about it.

I'm not opposing or defending anyone, thats purely my opinion.

Dude, seriously? Are people skimming my posts or something? The only thing I had a problem was a sound glitch. The rest of the tube works fine

Dude, I only said that, right because you only had a tiny glitch, you don't need someone else's instances, only to know where your issue is located. I hope I helped you out with that.

Hahaha... seriously? yeah... that's why I knew exactly where Fracture issue was. Dude, I work with instances all the time. Have you seen my custom elevators? all of them are instances and all of them work perfectly. Why? because I just like to stop and think, and to open each instance and entity and look into them and deduct the logic behind. And search out there to solve my doubts if I can't manage it, that's all.

And about collaboration, Protoborg, I understand perfectly that concept (remember that I offered myself to help you out with that 'experiement' about binary codes?), but I would like you guys to don't confuse that concept with laziness, ok?

Again, back to that thread of yours, Protoborg, I described first what I'd do, remember? I only offered to do myself once I noticed you already knew what we were talking about and I noticed you were showing interest and active will to develop it by yourself, not erlier, ok? My intention is always to cooperate with ppl's learning, not doing things for others, ok? What I don't understand is your bitter attitude against my comment... but still... (here it's that smiley again)

EDIT

About the elevator videos, well this has been discussed many times here. The videos are broken for the 'usual' maps (hammer maps that you load via the console) since the DLC2.

Fracture, check out this other thread and read my fix and let me know if you understand it.

EDIT: i will check that out and return here soon

EDIT: FRIGGEN SCRIPTS HOW I HATE YOU!!! AND IT STILL WONT WORK, AAUGH!!!!! It has got to be the dumbest friggen thing for it to screw around with me this badly. I even went as far as decompiling an official map to see how it worked and recompiling it. Guess what? BROKE THE VIDEOS!!!

I am a fucking JINX

Just when I think I understand the system, it changes on me.

The original maps use a very annoying script to make the videos play depending on the filename of the map itself. Decompiling and recompiling will break them.

Are you using one of the various hard coded elevators, such as Brainstone's? Those have worked best for me.

i was actually using one from here. which was also not working.
I never bothered downloading anyone else's stuff because I didn't think it was okay.

So i am guessing i have to edit the blasted script itself, and not just copy a new one like mentioned in the aforementioned thread?
