Map Names

Maybe I have just downloaded too many . . but these names sure could use a bit more imagination:
Most are some variation of:

Cubes_and_Lasers.bsp
Advanced_Lasers.bsp
Aperture_"anything".bsp
Fun_with_Funnels.bsp
etc etc etc

This is getting ridiculous . . .
Why, someone even recently named their map: Map1
Epic !! LOL

(mostly kidding of course - I love the maps and they are the one thing keeping us playing the game)

Hmmm, food for thought.

I mean, I actually don't think names like cubes_and_lasers are bad per se, and I quite like "fun with funnels".
But alright, I guess my maps don't have incredibly inspired names either. I'll work on that, I will. :wink:

As for things like "map1" or "sp_custom_01" etc., people uploading their first map(s) don't usually realize these map names can cause harm (through getting double file names from multiple authors), so I don't think this situation will improve any time soon...

Creativity is a gift. So I just name my maps to a year that it could have taken place in.

I don't so much mind the name of the map as the content, but it is nice when some creativity is thrown in. See...basically every map Omni has ever made for examples.
