I'm thinking of making a Life Size functioning turret...

Does anyone know how I could make the casing realistic? Also, how would I get the sounds to be high quality?

No, no.
It'll play a random line corresponding to what it's doing ("target acquired" when it sees you) and will play a bullet firing sound until you go out of sight. If possible I'll make the muzzles move like in the game.

Would infrared work as a good person sensor? Motion sensing wouldn't work because if someone stops moving...

You may be able to model the tracking system after that of an automated paintball turret. Heck, you could even make it actually shoot paintballs if you wanted it to. But I would advise making it look and sound like a turret before you worry about it functioning like a turret.

Try out Twin Pillars, a Portal 2 map by BOB74j.

I estimate it to be around 1.20 meters/ 4 feet

The turret itself is about 43.5 inches tall. With the tip of the antenna, that's an additional 7.5 inches.

What type of laser pointer could I use? I want it to be visible, like in the game.
