FelixGriffin is working on a razer hydra mod (HELP NEEDED)
Quote from nathanle1406 on September 23, 2012, 6:46 pmI honestly recommend being patient. Does it really matter what it can do right now if its not released right now? I'm sure when its finished it will do all the things you want it to.

Quote from FelixGriffin on September 23, 2012, 7:01 pmYou can in theory...there's a tracktrain that moves back and forth, and is parented to a cube in front of you that can be rotated. Anything you "grab" is sucked in by a trigger_push and parented to the train.
Except that Portal 2 doesn't even open anymore. I screwed something up badly enough that verifying won't fix it. :S
But when I fix that I'll continue work.

uninstall, remove the entire portal 2 folder, install, verify game cache and try again?

Quote from FelixGriffin on September 24, 2012, 8:33 amI've done that before, but it takes ages with my internet connection, so I'm hoping I can just find the problem file myself and remove it.

When you re-install it and it starts downloading, exit Steam. Then copy the stuff back and restart the download. It should finish more quickly, because most of the information is already there. (Do a "verify cache" afterwards for good measure.)

Quote from FelixGriffin on September 24, 2012, 5:29 pmWell, the problem before has been certain custom files, such as WAV's. Most work fine, but just a few, created by exactly the same program, screw up Portal 2 with their very presence. (Maybe when they're put in the audio cache?) But it doesn't seem to be a WAV this time. Maybe a PCF? Are those loaded on map start? But it's not in the manifest...hm.

Quote from HMW on September 25, 2012, 1:16 pmMaybe try deleting the audio cache? (portal2/maps/soundcache/_master<whatever>.cache)
If a .wav file has corrupted it (again), the corruption would persist until you rebuild the cache, even if you delete the offending .wav file.
If you delete the cache file itself, it will get rebuilt automatically the next time the game starts. Also, if you often have trouble with custom content, maybe it would be a good idea to make a separate game directory (a.k.a. "mod") for it. I remember KennKong writing a good article about how to do that. (It was for playing custom VPKs, but it works just as well for building maps.)
(BTW the moderator part of my brain just alerted me that we're slowly but surely veering off-topic.
If you continue to have problems, would you mind making a new thread for it? Thanks!)
