Maybe a sprite would look better.

"Oh, in case you got covered in that repulsion gel, here's some advice the lab boys gave me: DO NOT get covered in the repulsion gel."

Yes, env_sprite, that's what the use underground to give light from the roof and other places

Env_sun has just effect to the player if you can actually see a sky, not a white or black background.
If everything is already white, you couldn't localizie the sun.
Imagine you are in a dark room with just a small window and outside its very bright, like a hot summer day. If you just see "white" how should you be able to see the sun if already "everything" is the sun?

You've got a point, bit i've Aldi tried other types of skybox, like a nightsky with Stars. Can you tell me, d? i have to have a 3D-skybox to make the player get a visual Sun?

Mostly lurking

No, you just need a env_sun and a skybox texture anywhere where you want to see the sun.
