[Coop] Rookie Mistake

PreviousPage 2 of 2

We are completely stuck at this.

Spoiler
Apparently, the laser activates when both of us are standing on the 'pressure plates' and this keeps the door towards the faith plate open. However, one of us is supposed to gain momentum between the walls activated by the floor button and then fly towards that door, so we can't keep the laser activated when he needs to get through the door.

We also noticed the glass pane with the two 'pressure plate indicators'. In Djinndrache's walkthrough of V1, it opens when one pressure plate is activated. However, in this new V2, it doesn't open at all. We tried standing on the floor button, standing on the pressure plates, nothing. Either we completely fail at seeing how this glass pane can be opened, or it is broken.

A little explanation would help!

Thanks for the post!

Your assessment of the puzzle in the first chamber is exactly correct. The key thing to figure out is precisely what you asked:

Spoiler
How do you keep the laser activated when [one of you] needs to get through the door by the faith plate?
That's the trick :)

Here's a hint:

Spoiler
The person on the 'pressure plate' by the rotating doors needs to activate his plate *after* gaining momentum. The rotating doors are timed accordingly.
The faith plate door is open for an admittedly short period of time, but once you figure out the solution, that should be long enough.

As for your second observation, are you referring to the first chamber, and to the glass pane near the corner, beneath where the source of the laser is? (There are two indicator lights *behind* the glass, facing each other on opposite walls)? If so,

Spoiler
that door won't open until you solve the first problem above--i.e. until you successfully reach the faith plate
. So start there, and I think it'll follow pretty clearly after that (the faith plate is the real core of the puzzle).

I don't think it's broken, you just have to solve the faith-plate question first. If you could post a video playthrough, that would be awesome (I'm *dying* for someone to post a playthrough of V2), but either way, I'm really glad you've played this map and offered some feedback.

So THANK YOU!

(And if you'd like a more detailed hint, let me know.)

All right then, we'll give it another try. Thanks for the response! :)

Hmm. According to my calculations, someone recently rated the map a "2" but gave no justification. Not helpful.

I'm going to assume that either a) the person accidentally played version 1, or b) the person was unable to solve version 2, and rated it poorly in frustration...

Someone else rated it a "5". I'm going to assume that *that* person found (and appreciated) the solution :)

The guys at CoopCrowd accepted the challenge to do what no man, woman, or child has managed to do thus far: complete a blind playthrough of v2 and post a recording. I told them ahead of time what others have told me: namely, that due to an unfortunate (and extreme) lack of indicator lights, the level of difficulty is actually REALLY STINKING HARD. Their attempt can be found starting ~40:00, ending at ~1:23:00, from this link:

Did they succeed? Well, if you define "succeed" as totally glitching the first chamber due to a(nother) silly rookie mapping bug (unintentional portable surface...(ack!)), and then giving up before starting the second chamber because it was just too hard...then Yes, they "succeeded"

It's not exactly the playthrough I wanted to include here, but since it's the only v2 recording anyone in the world has bothered to post, and since it's entertaining to watch (even if the intended solution remains unknown), I thought I'd post it anyway. *I* enjoyed watching it, at least.

And maybe, somewhere, some time, some great hero will actually figure out the intended solution and post a recording. Maybe. Probably not. But maybe.

In any event, THANKS Henry and Wills.
