8 GB vs 16 GB

I still remember the days when 8 GB of memory seemed like a ridiculous amount of RAM.

That was only three years ago. Now 8 GB is quite standard in a gaming rig.

I can guarantee that within three years, 16 GB will be quite common place.

I used to mix and match RAM modules, but that was in the early 1990's. The four sticks I have in my system now are identical--same timing and frequency, same model, and same manufacturer. I believe it's more reliable to have all the memory modules to be exactly the same.

That's why I snatched up those two additional sticks when I found them on sale at Newegg. It's an opportunity not to be missed when you find the identical memory modules on sale.
