[WIP] You Can't Take It With You .. But You Must

This would be my 5th map, and probably my best so far. However, I know how it all works so my opinion is very skewed.
SERIOUSLY in need of testers on this one. There's almost certainly holes I've missed.

Chamber 1: trapped behind moving plates several times before getting through. I portaled into the back room - piece of wall visible - seemed that you wanted a leap down to the faith plate below and fling into that room? No need to activate the stairs in the back after getting the cube, the funnel will work from the back wall as well.
Chamber 2: funnel from 1 still active, seemed to defeat a lot of room 2 - getting frankie up to the top?
Chamber 3: laser room - a bit confusing, took me a while to realize there are two separate parts to this room; after getting the ball- need to activate others to open last room. Not sure if you should make it clearer or just leave as part of the puzzle - the blue lines do point to the right places...
Last chamber: Had a bit of a problem hitting the light bridge panel from down near the ball receptacle - flickered on and off took several tries. don't recall a need for the light bridge though - just portaled over to the exit after cube shuffling...
You did a lot of work on this one - nice job - look forward to the final version.

1) Trapped behind the plates? hmm .. as in you had to restart? that's no good .. getting past them all SHOULD be difficult, but I can do it on my first try usually. I'll see what I can do to re-arrange them maybe. That visible portalable surface. Wow. didn't catch that. EXACTLY the sort of comment I'm looking for. That'll get gone.
2) You're the 2nd person to have done that. I'm trying to think of a way to stop that.
3) Too confusing or OK confusing? Not sure how I could make it less so, but I DO want it to be confusing .. HECK! It was confusing to MAKE lolz ... I was actually tempted to make it MORE confusing. heh :lol:
4) OH JEEZ!! how the HECK did I miss that. GAH!!! of COURSE you can just portal over there. :lol: <sigh> hmmm ... don't think I can fix that. that'll require som re-thinking then. DANG!! and Thanks for pointing it out!! .. hitting the light bridge panel .. i've had that happen too, but I assumed it was just a very picky portal surface. not sure how to fix it, or if I even can. the light bridge appears to be moot right now anyhow.

I've updated the map to v0.9, hopefully solving the issues that have been pointed out to me.

Except maybe #4 .. I think it's probably still possible to just portal to the exit. I've thought about a couple ways to make that not doable, but they're all kinda wonky and contrived. Still considering.

I could get past the pushers rather easily, and I could solve the first room. I can even get both the cube and edgeless cube to the central foyer. After that, I have no idea what to do next. A little hint please?

When I removed the ball from the stairs trigger, the stairs visually were gone, but I could still walk up them!

By first room you mean??? ... When you removed the ball from WHICH stairs trigger?
Are you talking about the room where you get the Companion Cube? .. um ... the edgeless safety cube is SUPPOSED to stay in there. You say those stairs stay up when you remove it, but you can still walk up them? Hmm. That's a little strange. Each 'next' room SHOULD open "in sequence", unless you've missed something perhaps.
Any chance you could provide me with a .dem?

I got a little ahead of myself in the .dem file, and removed the ball BEFORE I go access to the white hallway! But it does show the bizarre stairs error. I did not show it in the .dem, but the ball will roll down the stairs as if they are there, so it affects more than the player.

As for missing something? Well, I noclipped around (I know, that is cheating) to look for something I missed, and came up with nothing.

I am beginning to ponder that I may not be so good at thinking with Portals!

It's not you at all. It's me. .. My previous update broke the map such that it had become unsolvable. I have now remedied that.

regarding the Companion Cube room, the stairs, and the Edgeless Safety Cube .. I do believe I have also fixed that. You should no longer be able to remove the Edgeless Safety Cube from the room; plus, if you manage to, you will be unable to exit the map.
Any further input would be GREAT!! and I really appreciate your testing.

This version fixes the problems. You are quite certain to not let me break the 1st room again! One last tweak in that room is to eliminate the luxury of portalling into the room from the ledge. I can skip using the faith-plate.

Room 2: When the redirection cube landed, it appeared to bounce off the top of the angled plate that reset to flat. Not a problem, just looks funny. I almost needed another 1/2 second on the timer. Had to catch Franky and run.

Room 3: It is possible to trap yourself in the button chamber. Twitchy mouse fingers are not always a good thing!
Room 3: Positioning the portals to line up the lasers was tedious at best. Not sure how to remedy that.
Room 3: Leave the messy indicator lights alone. Leave it up to the player to figure out what is what.

Room 4: Neat little puzzle.
Hallway: The climbing mineshaft was rather easy; especially after everything else.

The test is in good shape, unfortunately I am no longer an unbiased tester! But, I can still attempt to break it for you!

Not sure what's up with that angled plate in room 2. That is weird. Not sure i CAN fix it.
RE: trapping yourself in the button chamber in room 3. Yes, possible. But only if you don't have 1 portal outside the chamber. I knew about that and decided to leave it. .. Lining up the refractor cube should take some doing .. TOO tedious tho?
Room 4 I wanted to be a little easier after all the other crap I put the player through LOL
..
If you find ways to break the map, I'd sure like to know!! For instance, I thought I'd removed the ability to portal into the Companion Cube room. Appears to be not so. Gotta take another look at that.
