trigger_portal_cleanser sound

Hi,

Does anyone know how to stop the sound that is played by the trigger_portal_cleanser entity?

Even when you disable it and it becomes invisible (ie the fizzler if off), it still plays the fizzler humming sound.

Try this, create the cleanser but texture it as tools_trigger. Then make another brush over the top of it and give it a fizzler texture. Set the outside brush to never solid. I think that might work.

Nah, didnt help :(

Thanks,

I can't reproduce the fizzler sound disabling the portal_cleanser. For me it works perfectly.

I used the dynamic fizzlers version and I've got several outputs that open/close the props_dynamics and enable/disable the portal_cleansers. The sound starts and is kept while everything is ON; and it just stops when OFF.

Would you mind to give more details about how did you make them? what is your scenario?

Hi,

Well, I've found out 'why' its happening.

In one of my maps, I only have 1 fizzler, and it only is a problem if there is only 1 fizzler in the map.

I've attached an example.

If I put a 2nd trigger_portal_cleanser at the far end of the room (out of audible distance), then when the fizzler nearest you is disabled (pressing the right hand button) the sound is stopped.

If you remove the 2nd fizzler, then the sound doesn't stop when the fizzler is disabled.

So, this means I need a 2nd 'dummy' fizzler in a box somewhere outside my main map, or the other workaround I've found is to actually 'kill' the trigger_portal_cleanser when you have disabled it. Only thing is you need to use a point_template so you can respawn it when you enable it again.

Unless anyone else can see what I'm doing wrong...

Rob.
