Looks from your screenshot like you should do that to the pile-o-tile on the floor to your right as well.Not sure about the potato gun directly, but msleeper made a custom version of the transition_ents instance that fixes it. Use that instead of the Valve-provided one to get the normal gun.
Click your prop and choose "Disable shadows" under the properties. That will fix the darkness.
