Sparks that Shouldn't Be There

Page 1 of 2Next

So I have my map, and in the first room, if you fall into the goo you can see this env_spark forever going off. However, I have no such spark at that location in Hammer. I think it has something to do with the fact that it looks like it's at the global origin, but I have no clue how to get rid of it. Any ideas? Thanks

Move your map away from the map's origin.

sparks and laser-artifacts always appear at the origin; that's why valve employees also advice not to build near it.

I've noticed that with particle glitches sometimes.

In one of the 2D views, draw a square around your whole map, just like you can do in the Windows Explorer when you want to select many files with the mouse. Then, in the other 2D views, drag out the edges of the square so that it includes the whole map from the different viewpoint as well. Then, press "Enter" to select everything inside this square. Now you can move everything that is selected just like you would single entities or brushes. Depending on the size of your map, this procedure might be a bit laggy.

That's probably the best way to go. Dragging the entire map can get your map off grid.

Or just save the map as an instance and load it in a new map - then you can move it around however you want without the worry that it could be to big or off the grid.

Oh, good to know.

select all, [ctrl]+[m] then choose some multiple of 2 like 256 in one of the x y or z values,

Also, I made a map just for you! Sunset
