[SP] Vent Companions

Here's my entry for the Summer Mapping Initiative. I had a horrible week, but giving up was the last thing I wanted to do, even though I barely had time to work on it. I know after the first chamber it looks horrible, but at least it's fully playable.

Special thanks to Thesus for helping me out in getting the fog and some overlays to work. Couldn't have done it without him.

Its nice to finally see a Pnumatic Diversity Vent in action but i had 2 problems and 1 comment. The comment is that although the otherside of portal shows the dirt intake the tube itself shows no such animation. Problems: i decided to put the cube in the vent and all doors opened so i went through to middle bit pressed button and all doors closed trapping me. I could see a new cube spawned on platform but had no way out of the room i was in.

nice chambers, i allmost got stuck between the downs too.

and you put one portal in the white space then try shooting the other one in the same place, you get this

All around fun level, alternative lots of portaling to aimed strokes of pneumatic vents. That's some effective "buildup & release" flow.

Designed in Broken style, it holds its own in oversided rooms - usually critical situations. But the lack of micro detail shows in close quarters, which by the end look too dull. Hopefully the tricky puzzle and music will keep you busy not to notice. :1up:

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.

Nice map. Great introduction to vents. The map was a bit repetative though and I couldn't figure out how to move the CC through the last door into the incinerator. Something was also wrong with the texture on the big wall in chamber two.

Simple yet effective map using a seldom-seen mechanic. It had the game feel of "Here's a simple example; now go do a chamber using it." I did have a hard time finding a way to get the cube to the incinerator, even though it was in plain sight. Daring to be a little different bumps this up to 4/5 from me.

I'm reviving this topic for two reasons:

1. The player can get trapped if they were to lose the companion cube and have both portals on the other side of the retractable panel.
2. Upload to Steam Workshop please? This is one of the best Pneumatic Diversity Vent puzzles.
