I didn't really like tricky portal placement to get rid of the turret.

As you said, the lighting is bad, mostly just by being too low. It would probably take you less time to fix that than it took for you to write "Yes I know, the lighting is bad."
Also, enable HDR while compiling the map, that will also help.

Why release it, if you know the map's broken? Just open a WIP thread and ask for betatesters, no need to rush. Anyway: basic and unpolished, dark to the point of being unplayable.
