[SP] The Circuit
Quote from rock_n_rage on July 1, 2012, 5:41 pmThe Circuit takes you on a round-trip testing experience through a set of chambers built with the in-game editor and modified within Hammer. Only the layout was created with the in-game editor. The rest was my first real attempt with Hammer
I would consider this map an easy-medium difficulty map.
As always, I would appreciate any and all constructive comments or suggestions.
Revision History
7.3.12 - v1.1
-moved trigger that opens door
-eliminated bothersome grate that allowed cube to pass

Not too easy, not too hard, well thought out, well lit. Thanks

Quote from rock_n_rage on July 1, 2012, 9:41 pmThanks LP & Sicklebrick.....I'm trying to take my time and learn this thing the right way. I've taken to using the tools within Hammer pretty quickly as the program is very similar to the CAD programs I've used on the job for years. I'll take a look at the grating that LP mentioned to me in-game and figure out how to setup a brush with a func_clip_vphysics tied to it. I just need to make sure that a light bridge can still pass through.

Quote from sicklebrick on July 2, 2012, 6:52 amYou can stop stuff coming through the back of the grating by just getting rid of the grating's func_instance, setting it's func_brush component to "Always Solid" and making sure it's not sitting inside any surfaces (otherwise stuff will materialise inside the brush and have to pop out). It will function like your average everyday grate

Quote from quatrus on July 2, 2012, 7:17 pmworked fine, but at hallway to the exit chamber with 2nd ball, the door opening into the exit chamber, opened into me and trashed the ball, guess I was walking too fast...? After restart at save, I walked slowly and door had time to open...maybe set it to activate earlier? Thanks for creating.

Quote from zivi7 on July 7, 2012, 6:15 pmThe laser puzzle gave me a hard time. I eventually came up with this solution, using the lightbridge from the previous room to set up the cube on the left: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/576 ... C2F317382/
But I guess the correct solution looks different and doesn't require the lightbridge?
I managed to get myself stuck after the laser puzzle but I'm not really sure what went wrong: I was inside the center room again but all "doors" were closed. Anyway, after a reload everything worked fine.

Quote from rock_n_rage on July 7, 2012, 6:54 pmWas it the main room you got stuck in or the room with the lasers? I'd be interested to know which door didn't open.
Here is a picture of the correct laser solution.
