[SP] [SP] Powerup
Quote from LilRobot on July 4, 2011, 5:59 pmA sweet, short map, using only one portal and a destructed theme, you play through the map. However, during this map, something happens: it appears as if GLaDOS has been awakened. But by whom?
Info:
One bug, check readme for details
Includes a snazzy fizzler effect with cubes. Put a cube in and find out!
Includes only one chamber.
Tractor beams, buttons, etc.
One button doesn't do anything.
(Demo 2 for Departure Mappack[name pending])File Name: demo 2.rar
File Size: 1.83 MiB

Quote from xdiesp on July 4, 2011, 6:41 pmThe test number panel on the left is missing a texture, now it's purple checkered!
Good to know the project is still ongoing, first demo last month meant business. After this much time I've seen bigger shots at Decay, but all the animations and inventions here are still worth it. Promising!
Glitch: when pressed, the first floor button you find sinks under the floor. Now this is subjective, but some might find the difference in the unmodified portalgun to be gratuitous - shooting the secondary fire only (I'm neutral).

Quote from LilRobot on July 4, 2011, 7:38 pmInteresting response. I'll look into the button thing.
Also, sorry about the missing texture, the most recent update fixed it all.

Quote from Lpfreaky90 on July 4, 2011, 8:04 pmHeya
The map looks great, I can't wait to see the whole map pack
xdiesp addressed a few issues and I agree:
* The first button gets covered by sand when pressed
* Fireing the portal with your secondary fire feels really unnatural.
* The test panel isn't working (purple black blocked)
* The panels are indeed still blackI've also got myself stuck inside the panels
when they clapped
Well, good luck with the rest of the map, can't wait for the full release

Quote from mironos on July 4, 2011, 11:31 pmThe feel to this map is interesting, and using the single portal gun is unique, but overall, I felt like this needed some work.
First off, I didn't feel like there was any puzzle here. Was this meant to demonstrate a concept? Would make more sense then. Otherwise, it doesn't stand on its own.
There were quite a few bugs still, I noticed the ones the others mentioned, plus the fact the entry door opened/closed/opened again when I began. Happened both times I played it.
Also, there was no entry or exit sequence, which was a bit unsatisfying. Also not sure about the ending music.
I think maybe this one should be in the WIP forum -- a lot of the things I'm calling out are speaking to the fact that the map doesn't feel finished.

Quote from LilRobot on July 5, 2011, 6:17 pmYeah, it's more of a demo so everything isn't going to be *perfect*, really. Next demo I'll release will have a proper everything, full promises.
Also, the door is supposed to open and close, that's what the sparks are for.

Good luck w/ the rest of the map -- I look forward to it!

Quote from Djinndrache on July 6, 2011, 2:19 pmI'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:OeteLsv75nw

Quote from Rubrica on July 6, 2011, 4:57 pmOh, nice! I found your video demonstrating the rotating turrets earlier, and subsequently your fizzled video, and was dying to know how you did it - would you mind sharing? Sorry if it's a stupid question and there's a .vmf in the zip, but I'm on an iPad, so I can't open it right now. Also, does this work with all physics objects, or just cubes? What about antique or reflector cubes?
