[SP] Shift: Prelude

Quote from portal2tenacious on August 26, 2012, 10:33 amThe idea of this is very clever, but I'm not sure if it's the concept's vast possibilities or the conversion gel that broke it so much. I was able to get the laser cube into the final room, and I could also get the conversion gel into the final room. I will be uploading a blind play through shortly.

Quote from Mr Waterhandle on August 27, 2012, 3:39 amUh, from what I've played it's pretty much required for you to get conversion gel in the final room in order to solve it.
Already commented in the workshop. Maybe have a secret area for all those Portal Pros who don't need the redirection cube.

Quote from Aicxe on August 27, 2012, 7:22 pm2 people already told me that they don't seem to be fazed by the laser fields (and even the deadly goo, for one person) when they play my map.
But being the stupid Workshop kids they are, I don't give much shit about it. Can somebody who played my map verify this?
Thanks.
EDIT: I'm buying a corndog for myself, I got 5-starred on the workshop. Yay.

Quote from sicklebrick on August 28, 2012, 7:29 pmSeems like a cool map, but I don't have the patience for teleporters and long ass intros. Cheers though ^^

Quote from zivi7 on September 2, 2012, 1:04 pmAfter a while it became a bit annoying that you had to wait till the "shift" was done, even if it's only like 1-2 seconds.
The left of the two lights in the final laser/faithplate room seems to be one unit too far in the wall. This causes flickering of the light panel - and makes the wall portalable there once you got goo on it.
The white gel can be used to skip the whole funnel/floor panel part. I made a video. It took longer than anticipated, but that's because the white gel acts a bit "random". In earlier playthroughs it worked differently, so I'm fiddling around a bit longer in this one.

Quote from Shane on September 2, 2012, 2:35 pmIf you don't mind me asking, if you're referring to these players as "stupid workshop kids" why are you putting the map on the workshop? I haven't had time to play yet so I can't give my own feedback but if you're only intending for your map to be played by pro players, don't stick it onto the workshop in the first place.
Personally, I find the opinions of ordinary players just as useful for one simple reason. The vast majority of players aren't pros and I like to create things for everyone's enjoyment.
Anyway that's enough of that, I'll have a play and give some feedback.

Quote from quatrus on September 3, 2012, 1:52 pmAn interesting map, the concept of the shifting chamber was novel, but it took a while to get the idea clear how it was to be used. Basically, I played through with the objective to get white gel in the last chamber. A lot of surfaces were "whited"...typical. Not sure of the function of the bridge, didn't really need it with all the white available.
The entry chamber and exit chambers were novel, but might have been shorter or more interesting?
thanks for creating....enjoyed it
