[SP] Rick Chambers Demo

Page 1 of 2Next

Have you ever wondered what it would be like, if it were Rick running aperture? No? Well are you now? No? Well i did. I have built a map, sort of around an adventure style of gameplay, yet still involving Portals and Portal elements.

Note, that this is not, actually a difficult, or long, chamber. It is just a test, to see how a facility, run by Rick, would look like.
I know, that moving laser emitters is not a good idea, but it is needed for the map style. Please post some "Adventury" test element ideas, for possible new maps with this concept.

Fire, countdown clocks, and explosions.

Haven't played the map yet, but those are some ideas.

Those are needed additions. It does work with the included VO, and is very Rick-like.

I liked it. Awfully short, but effective to introduce the new element. Which, by the way, I was like "oh SNAP" when I saw it. That was awesome.

Yeah, it started out as an introduction map, and so, it was short, yet it shows you what you will expect, in a clear manner.

laggy as hell for me

Small room about a big prefab, suffers from heavy lag. Curious!

Good luck in your future endeavours. Image

the hills are alive... with the sound of music

I forgot to mention about the possible lag problems. I did not experience any, but not all computers are too good. Yeah, i am sure i wont be using so many of them beams in the future.

Your idea is good and it fits well with Rick. As said, the lag is the main problem. One minor note as well: the light on the ceiling of the black room doesn't blend in very well.

I started playing custom maps and record me playing them. It's neither a perfect run nor do I have to have solved the map in the way it's meant to solve it. I play the maps "blind", that means I've never been in them before and play them for the very first time. I also give a little feedback for the map in the video description.

Maybe you are interested in the fact, that I played your map: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJPrNI0SCCg
