[SP] Kvalheim's Singleplayer: 01 - release
Quote from kvalheim on January 2, 2012, 7:46 pmMy first real attempt at a Portal 2 map, created in about a day. Not filing as "released" yet, as there are still lighting issues and GLaDOS speech needs to be added. But for the amount of time I put into it, I think it's turning out pretty well, and would love to hear feedback.

Quote from OnePortalizedGal on January 2, 2012, 8:06 pmShort, rather easy puzzle, environment was slightly erie, in the destroyed style, 2nd chamber had a nice little fling to it.
I walked in front of the turrets several times, they did not shoot at me - might want to make them a little more responsive.
Other than that, good work - looked and played nice!

Quote from kvalheim on January 2, 2012, 8:09 pm
The turrets are set to "out of ammo", more as sort of ambience. However, if the feeling is that it's too easy, I could work them in someway with live ammo
Anyways, this is my first map I've gone through with, second that I could actually run myself xD (old PC was terrible). Thanks a lot for the feedbackwill work on making it more challenging

Quote from OnePortalizedGal on January 2, 2012, 8:14 pmAh - didn't realize that. You could leave it - as it made it suspenseful. Great work anyway for a first map - keep them coming!

Quote from kvalheim on January 2, 2012, 8:23 pmI plan to!
And seeing as I fancy myself quite the storyteller, there may be more coming than "just test chambers".
We'll wait and see

Quote from kvalheim on January 3, 2012, 8:54 amI think actually this is probably more in difficulty similar to the singleplayer game's early laser chambers. ie: not very xD

Quote from kvalheim on January 3, 2012, 3:28 pmRelease version of the WIP uploaded the other day. Now has music, GLaDOS voices, active turrets, fixed vertex textures and implemented moving panels. Moved the button, but still fairly easy difficulty.

Quote from KennKong on January 3, 2012, 7:33 pmThis demonstrates that you can wrap your puzzles in interesting surroundings. If you partnered with one of the mappers here that make good puzzles in dull rooms (and there are more than a few) we would all have some nicer maps to play. This is too short and easy to merit a 4, but that's the only knock on an otherwise beautifully detailed map. A solid 3/5 from me, begging for more.

Quote from kvalheim on January 3, 2012, 8:04 pmYeah, that's the main problem I have (along with projected textures turning themselves off and not finding the right materials!)
I pride myself on aesthetics, and spend hours making sure everything -looks- right, but I'm not too good at thinking up challenging puzzles ^^;
Well, practice makes perfectbesides, most of the VALVe maps are easy until the last two acts of the game.
