It is a good start for a first map, but it has an inconsistant theme. You might want to use props appropriate to the theme of the level. Another thing, have you read the contest rules? It will help to read them so you don't get disqualified.

First guy tells the second guy, "My head hurts!" The second guy replied, "Stop thinking so much!" Then the first guy says, "I think that what caused my problem in the first place!" The second guy says, "Then stop banging you head against the wall!"

Average looks and deadly easy, keep working on it if you want that John Romero's Ferrari!

I started playing custom maps and record me playing them. It's neither a perfect run nor do I have to have solved the map in the way it's meant to solve it. I play the maps "blind", that means I've never been in them before and play them for the very first time. I also give a little feedback for the map in the video description.

Maybe you are interested in the fact, that I played your map: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-LiE0z_rU8

Thanks for the feedback, all. I had a hard time coming up with anything challenging, I admit, but I thought I'd try my luck all the same.

Theming-wise, the only thing I can think of being off are the gel pipes and their associated buttons, and I honestly couldn't find a way to adjust them. I'll look a little harder now that I'm a little more accustomed to instances.

Responding to some feedback, I've updated the map with some new puzzles and a few detailing/lighting improvements. I don't think it's TOO much harder, honestly, but I think it's a lot more satisfying to play. Hope you enjoy!

The map is pretty dark. Also, I was able to avoid getting hurt by the goo by holding down spacebar and floating around at the top. I wasn't able to complete this because of a lack of direction - I wasn't sure where I was supposed to go next - I had just turned on the

light bridge
and went over to the little section over on the left of the room (from the direction the
Spoiler
light bridge
comes from) - which, by the way,
Spoiler
can be reached without using the light bridge, by moving sideways across the propulsion-gel covered ramp
- and it seemed impossible to reach the
Spoiler
button
because you can't shoot a portal high enough, because the lights are in the way.

Thanks for the feedback, first of all.

The map is possible to complete, though the way I intended for players to reach that button may not have been intuitive enough. I was tempted to put some arrows as a hint, but I thought that might make it too obvious. I may work on it, given your confusion.

It's good to know that you can cross to the area with that button can be reached before intended. I tried about three times to see if it was possible, and each resulted in my death, so I didn't think it was possible. But just to be sure I'll add something in to make it clear that's not your destination (not that the player can do much in the way of sequence breaking anyway).

Lighting is something I always have trouble with in mapping, for some reason. The best source of lighting in Portal maps I could find were the observation rooms, and I felt it would be rather outlandish if I used them too much. This is something else I'll have to work on. Thanks!

Hey there, I've also made a youtube about this map. Probably the most obvious issue I ran into was thinking the ramp didn't have enough gel for me to jump the slimepit when it actually did, other than that the map was good fun.

I'm about to release a new version that fixes being able to float in the water without dying, adds a wall to make it impossible to get to the area with the reflectocube button, a directional arrow or two, and maybe some lighting improvements I made that I forget about. Will probably release one more new version with some final fixes before the contest ends.
