[SP] Gelocity Time Trial - Track 1
Quote from Raidix on April 21, 2013, 12:39 pmA slightly modified single player version of Gelocity 1 race map.
This time you don't have to compete against your friend but you have to fight against the clock.
Use your skills to reach the finish line as fast as you can!
You will probably need a few laps until you know all tricks - so give it at least a second try!
Feel free to post your best times! Please note that this map is really large. That is why it takes a while to download it.

Really good map - this jump in front of the 2nd checkpoint is complicated as hell

Really good lap times!
In order to achieve <1.02, you need to know a little trick that you have to use in the last sector.
The <1.02 was intended as "speedrunner medal" anyway.
So don't mind if you don't get it.Well, the people who tested this map for me are really good at this, so I wasn't sure if the times were too tight.
What do you think?
Would it be better to make it a little easier?
e.g.
1.) <1.03 (was 1.02)
2.) <1.05
3.) <1.08 (was 1.07)
4.) <1.15 (was 1.10)I don't want it to be frustrating for the not so fast players...

Quote from PortalCombat on April 22, 2013, 4:28 pmIf you really have to change the times, you could make 2 or 3 categories to choose at the start of the map.
1) beginner (01:30, 01:35, 01:40 and 01:45)
2) amateur (01:15, 01:18, 01:21 and 01:24)
3) professional (01:02, 01:04, 01:07 and 01:10)And if someone gets a time above the last place, you can open the exit for them with
"hey slowpoke, get out!" ^^Do not change the 01:02.0 ... it is always good to know the goal on a time trial...

Quote from RogerL on April 22, 2013, 7:34 pmThat was pretty good fun! I didn't think I would like this map, 'cause I suck at firing portals while moving fast. But you always gave huge expanses of portalable surfaces which made it fairly easy. And the track itself was quite varied in terms of obstacles, techniques, etc., which greatly increases replay value. My best time, though, was just sub 1:10. I'd really like to see a sub 1:00.

Quote from Djinndrache on April 23, 2013, 4:25 pmI spent more than two hours in this map today. To be honest the little "party sound" is a bit disappointing at the ending. I was hoping for a companion cube as price for beating the best medal time

That would be awesome! Then you could truly brag (to yourself at least) when you are able to increase the difficulty, so to speak. Although, I would recommend times like this:
beginner (2:00, 1:45, 1:30, and 1:15) [This is me.
]
amateur (1:45, 1:30, 1:15, and 1:10)
Professional (1:10, 1:07, 1:04, and 1:02)You could also make it where the player can "unlock" the next difficulty when they beat the "gold" or "speed run" time.
