As to answer your question.....I don't use instances, ask LP
. I hate them, well besides the obvious (elevator entrance, exit, and cube dropper). I prefer customizing everything to a level's needs then use instances.
I guess dedication and experience? I hate bragging about myself though
. Honestly it's probably cause I map too much, almost 2000 hours in authoring tools. I just did this as a nice break for a big project I'm working on releasing this year
. I'm surprised it became as popular on the shop as it did
