Some style questions.

1. http://i3.3djuegos.com/juegos/2826/portal_2/fotos/set/portal_2-1532056.jpg
See where the diversity vents come out of the testchamber? The hole? Are there any entities like that?

2. The yellow rails in BTS P2 areas, how do you make those?

3. How do you make the enclosed/skybox area in BTS?

4. How could I make a collapsing floor with a trigger?

I would very much like it if anyone could reply to one/a few/all of my questions.

Thanks,
Scott

Lol at my rank! xD

Bumpppp

Before I start, and so you dont get banned;

1) Dont double post.
2) Definatly dont triple post.
3) Dont bump after just an hour.
4) Dont spam useless crap.

Now to you questions:

1) Entity for a hole. Um, no entity at all makes a hole. If you mean the empty borders, its a prop_static and search for 'square' (without quotes) in the model browser.

2) Um, yellow rails. A picture would be nice. I am assuming you mean scaffolding, search for it in the model browser, or search for 'bts'.

3) Um, with an enclosed skybox. This kinda answers itself... unless I am reading it wrong? If you mean the seemingly empty bts areas, just make the walls tools/skybox and set the skybox texture in properties to sky/black. Make sure its not sky/black_no_fog or it will look shithouse.

4) Panels or func_physbox. Set to disable and then enable when you walk over it.

These questions are quite broad and you could possibly answer them your self by looking at:

- Valve Deleveoper Wiki (VDC)
- Google (just type it in, it wont bite)
- Youtube (there are some good channels out there to get you started)
- Decompiled maps. (the authoring tools have some and you can decompile any other)

"Oh, in case you got covered in that repulsion gel, here's some advice the lab boys gave me: DO NOT get covered in the repulsion gel."

Thank you a lot!

Okay, I have one more question.

How would you make a panel lying on it's side, like this:

Rotate it diagonally in hammer

Don't forget to func_detai it though, or it'll make some weird visleaf cuts.
I would recommend you to start learning the basics of hammer before trying to map something big, make small 'test-maps' in which you just try everything you know and then add things the more you learn.

Sounds like a good idea, thanks for taking the time to reply! :)
