Skin 1, Skin 2 for models... I'm not sure how to do this...

I wish to implement a model using multiple skins on a specific .smd, but am unsure on how to go about it. The model's going to replace those fat/bulky fizzler emitters that I hate so much, so I can generate a more flexible, conservative feel to the fizzlers themselves.

The main reason is to generate an on-off feeling without the need for animation. It'd be more like flicking a light switch, as the fizzler emitters should have done in the first place.
