Replace original file

I want to replace an existing file in the portal 2 vpk, but is there a way? Or do I have to edit the script to use my file instead of the original file.

It is probably best practice to edit the script because otherwise it may affect other levels and even the official campaign. I think that should be easier as well.

Turrets, not tourettes. Only people with tourettes say that.
