Renaming downloaded Test Chambers

I have a weird question. If I download a map and rename it will the map still work? I find it hard to remember the names of some of them when I bring up the console command in Portal 2.

If the map isn't connected to any other maps it should work I believe. If it is linked to another map (that map ends with the new map beginning) then it won't work.

Yeah, that's no problem whatsoever. You just have to type in whatever you change the map name to in the console.

It's also worth noting that the console tries to auto-compelete from anywhere in the mapname, so if the map is like sp_area1_zazzlefraz, you can type in "map zazzle" and it'll find it. Just hit the down arrow to select it and hit enter to play.

It breaks cubemaps, and once they are rebuilt, the old ones remain, bloating the map file.

I find that I can just go to the BSP file in my maps folder, right click it, and choose Open with Portal 2. Rather than type the name in the console.
