random leak every time i add a new object (really need help)

Page 1 of 2Next

OK so ive been making a map for portal 2 for some time now and something weirds started happening.Every time i compile the map i get a leak, usually I load the pointfile and look for the leak (usually some error in my brushworketc.).But the pointfile just shows the leak going through a brush. Now I went back and undid some of the recent additions to the map (worth a shot) and it compiled fine. However, every time i add a new entity, brush etc. it leaks again. The leak also changes if i repeat the previous steps. I've tried searching google and the forums (although i cant garuntee ive been thorough)and now im going round and round in circles
:notwant:

I'll try this, but im not sure. I didn't edit that brushwork at all (well not since i created it, which was weeks ago) and it compiled fine before hand. Also the leaks keep changing place. Thanks for the reply though

Ive just checked and all the leaks are through solids not func_details or anything, but i did the "toworld" thing on the solids anyway and it compiled. Well whatever black magic you used thank you. Ill be sure to post again if i keep getting the issue and that doesnt solve it. Anyway thanks alot I really want to get this map working and finished

Damn..... Spoke too soon its back again and every time i do that "to world" thing on the solid, it just changes where the leak is. Will try again tomorrow

My holy God! Let's talk about one thing... it's a button actually, not a thing itself. We use to call it the fuck*** EDIT button... didn't you really know of it YET?? Well.... this may be kind of a long story... but still, I'll summarize it a bit just for you!

It all begun when too many ppl came and stepped by a forum... yeah one of those sites that allows EVERY SINGLE PERSON, sometimes just for a moment, to get in, to participate, to express their point of view about things... to be someone for a bit, ye know what I'm talking about...

Soon it turned out that a kind girl (PLEASE note the italic words here emphazising the lack of sureness about her kindness state in those times...)... and please don't ask about how she looks like because to be frank, I don't the hell know! In my mind she looks so "challenging" and kind of attractive... because of her way of talking (hmmm... actually her way of yelling though...) but I'm sure I'm not her kind anyways...

So, back to the story... that girl (not quite sure if she's still a girl or maybe someone my age...because for all I know this story happened back in 2007 or so... when that impressive new game, Portal, arrived to her life... but that's a whole different story! :D)... happened to be SO TIRED of ppl who seemed to be maintaining a conversation to himself along the threads in that forum, kind of a monologue... so she invented what was called a REAL advance in technology... the EDIT BUTTON.

A-REVOLUTION-IN-SCIENCE.... they called that fuc/** button! mate! It was the only thing ppl talked about in the streets... Soon the rumor was spreaded far and wide... and all the rest of forums did take this advance in science as their own tool... Then all ppl knew about the potential of such that great invention! That button tried to prevent one person to post one post over another by SIMPLY CLICKING ON IT!!! That was incredibly helpful for other counties!! Soon many heads of states quickly became truly intersted in the power of such a simple tool and the war begun...

Sometimes, I seem to hear my own grandfather talking about this story to me (but ofc the long one! :D) and my eyes can't help but crying... because those were awesome times!

All I wanted to say here is that there is a damn edit button that msleeper created here, so please do not double post, and what's worse: don't ever triple post!

EDIT: and then along came the moderators and administrators on the forums. This was to keep the peace and they gained the power to edit anyone's posts, in order to make changes where necessary. This can include removing bad links, removing dual/tripple/quadrupple posts or whatever. Because of this even more powerful feature governments from all around the galaxy wanted to have this awesome feature because they could change inappropriate/illegal stuff and/or delete it.

However since webmasters didn't like this, because of the fact that they wanted to decide what was on that side and not some kind of governmental nitwit they decided to refuse this access. Because the governments and other people who got note of this awesome feature to edit stuff didn't get what they wanted they decided to make laws to allow them to change stuff and/or remove stuff they didn't like.

And that is how things like ACTA and SOPA finally ended up on the drawing boards. However, the people who were constantly changing stuff because they had the edit button decided to edit their own websites (like wikipedia did) (they still could because they still had the edit button) in order to warn people of the fact that other parties wanted to edit/delete stuff too people were angry and said no. And that is why ACTA and SOPA ended up not being accepted.

EDIT: And hence this post goes down in forum history, summerising the importance of the edit button and all its' glory. The qualities it poses as to not spam the 'Active Topics' section with someone's constant same problem in the same thread. The fact that information can be conjoined in the same post as not to separate it; and the fact that the presence of this button in the topmost right corner of the post is grand and would look bland or empty without it.

Freedom for editing, freedom for the sake of posting freedom! (Freeeeeeedom!!)

Seriously, do we have a hall of fame or something?

Back on topic, it could also be that radius culling is on. There's an icon at the top that looks like this: Image If it's on, anything outside a certain radius from the camera will not be compiled, and thus, might leak. Try turning that off if it's on.

[EDIT]And thanks wrathofmobius that seemed to be the problem, all working now (well as far as i've tried).

Man, sorry for that... Ofc was a joke! It simply came out of my mind... and then Lp and Chicken joined the joke making it even more hilarious  You didn't offend AT ALL! ok?

"No hard feelings..."

Also, welcome to the boards! I'm glad you finally found out that your problem was the radius culling... do not hesitate to ask your mapping questions... And btw, try to search before opening a new topic... it's another button on top of the site (which story I won't tell today... )
