Questions

I have some questions. So because i love lists ill make a list.
-Is it possible to download the mapping tools so i can get used to them before i buy portal?
-Is it possible to take different words from what glados says and compose a new sentence?
-Is it possible to change the dirrection of gravity in a map?
-I guess thats it. The list is over.

Happy portaling

You might be able to use the Alien Swarm SDK, but I never used this method.

Of course! However it definatley sound botched, it will be extremely obvious you've combined words from different sentences.

There's a way to fake it, but it won't work for 100% of situations.

I also have a question.
Is it possible to get music from the portal 2 soundtrack into the game? I think they are not included, since I haven't found them in the sound resource browser.

Thanks in advance

Sure you can, they can either be in WAVE format (.wav):

44.1kHz, 16Bit, Stereo

or MPEG format (.mp3):

44.1kHz, Stereo.

You'll have to use something like Goldwave to convert them if they are not already the correct type.

I'm reasonably sure you still have to have the Portal 2 assets (models, textures, entities) somehow, and that comes from owning the game.

Short answer to the op's question: no.

"Games are made out of smaller games ? turtles all the way down, until you hit the game that is so trivial and stupid it isn?t deserving of the name." --Raph Koster

Well, he said the mapping tools, not specifically the Portal 2 authoring tools. I think he's just saying he'd like to see how difficult it is to map using the Source SDK in contrast to maybe something else that he's used before. In that case, Source SDK is now free since Team Fortress 2 went free-to-play. I'm not sure if they've released the free SDK to the public yet but they definitely announced it.

Ah, quite right. What would be the closest to modern Portal 2 mapping? Does TF2 have instances? Or was that innovation from L4D2?

I think it was from l4d2

First guy tells the second guy, "My head hurts!" The second guy replied, "Stop thinking so much!" Then the first guy says, "I think that what caused my problem in the first place!" The second guy says, "Then stop banging you head against the wall!"
