[PTI] The Pits

Like the title says, pits and more pits to overcome to finish the puzzle. Not too difficult but you should have fun with some flinging. Instead of a Companion Cube, you'll be using a cube for almost every chamber.

Nice puzzles you have there! I enjoyed very much. I played this map before and recorded my blindrun (which was 30+ mins because I was stuck at the first area, not knowing that you can actually

drop down to redirect the laser
) but for some reason, the footage was deleted. So today I thought "Hey, why not play SkyFerret's map again?" So I played it and managed to remember some of the puzzles, making it easier, and therefore, the blindrun is much shorter than it used to be. (I didn't cut any footage out)
Here's my "blindrun": (Its not really a blindrun, since I played it before, but whatever )

Here's some feedback:

Spoiler
-The first chamber was kinda straightforward, but when I reach the top, I didn't really know I can actually drop back down to redirect the laser.
-The second chamber was really fun and creative. I like how you fling on the faith plate and the cube drops at the same time so you cannot actually miss the cube
-The third chamber was unique, because most funnel-momentum puzzle require the player to jump off the funnel and land on the floor to fly off at the angled panel. In this case, you go through the funnel and through the angled panel so you hit the end of the funnel at a degree to reach the destination.

-The fourth chamber was nice and creative, but don't hide the elevator platform. I had a time finding out what I needed to do in the chamber before noticing that theres actually a elevator platform that goes back up.
-The last chamber was unusally large, which was unnecessary. Maybe make it smaller?
-Its possible to bring the cube to the last chamber. I brought it, but when the cube landed safely at the exit door, I didn't. When I landed safely at the exit door, the cube didn't. :(
-Nice thumbnails man! How did you make such nice thumbnails? :p

5/5! Can't wait to play your next map! :D

Excellent map set, just couldn't get the last strafe over to the activated platform to the exit - gave it 5 -6 tries and then noclipped to the exit. thanks for creating...

@Rector

Yes, that first chamber was just a matter of

Spoiler
leave behind a portal (in the chamber where you got the laser cube) and jump down, redirect the laser, and portal back to the chamber.

As for the piston platform that seemed hidden, I think what happened was I wanted to add lots of lighting to make it visible but I might have hit the element limit and coudn't do that without sacrificing lighting in other chambers.

But as for that last cube, I guess I should have put a fizzler field right before that last and deep chamber. That way the player would know that's as far as it goes and is not used. Something to remember.

As for my thumbnails, I use Photoshop. I might sometimes get images of doors and other things from Google Images and crop and resize them then paste them in, but the rest is from scratch.

Thanks for taking the time to upload your game play. I appreciate that.

That's kind of strange that it took that many tries. That's actually the one part of the whole map where I spent a lot of time trying to fine tune it by moving walls back to get the arc from the faith plate just right :). When I play tested the final product, I think I missed once or even twice out of 8 times so I figured I'd go with it.
Thanks for playing. :-D :-D

On a different note, I almost thought this download page (P2 single player) has been somewhat forgotten. Seems like lesser uploads have been submitted lately because I would have been pushed back about 3 pages by now. I'm guessing people have been creating a lot of co-op maps lately.

I thought this was in the Portal 2 PTI download page? You should try making Hammer maps, because people tend to go the Portal 2 Single-Player download page rather than the Portal 2 PTI download page. Just a suggestion. :o

I worded that wrong. I said P2 single player whereas I meant PTI, as in Portal 2 PTI. You're probably right about people going to Portal 2 single player instead of this page. A couple of times I thought about trying Hammer. It would be quite the learning experience being much more complex than PTI.

There's a tiny bug happening but I don't know why or how to prevent it: Sometimes, when you step on a faithplate, it catapults you less high than it should. This got me stuck in the last puzzle with the track platform a little while because I didn't see how the faithplate could help me there. It just kept shooting me about as high as the track platform is placed.

When this happens, jumping onto the faithplate instead of walking into it catapults the player to the original height again.

When I play tested it (several times) to make make sure the height and trajectory would send the player far enough to land on those panels, I think it was only about twice I've seen that happen. To be honest with you, I've seen that happen on a few other maps. Maybe it's a touch and go thing with the physics of the game. Thanks for your input.
