[PTI] Stare Case
Quote from SkyFerret on February 11, 2013, 6:52 pmIn case you stare at it wondering what to do, it's not that difficult. Some new ideas using lift stairs as part of the puzzle. 5 chambers all together using other elements such as light bridges, lasers and tractor beams. Some cubes get reused, some don't. The third chamber is the trickiest.

Here's my blindrun: (Heh, added some sound effects to the intro. What do ya think?)
-Its possible to grab the cube underneath the light bridge in the first chamber.
-Third chamber was indeed tricky, until I realised that I can actually bring the cube from the second chamber to the third chamber.
-Fourth chamber and fifth chambers re-used the same cube. Its kinda annoying that if you shoot the wrong portal at the fifth chamber, you have to go back to the fourth chamber to disintegrate the cube, then re-do everything again.
5/5. Excellent.
Keep 'em coming as always!
Cheers!

. The music was a bit louder than the sound affect. Other than that, it was okay.
In the first chamber, I didn't exactly see you grab the cube under the light bridge, but I would imagine it's possible because it's not that far down. I did notice that
you did a portal switch quick enough to activate the light bridge before the cube dropped to the floor. The intended solution is to press the button and get a new cube, let it hit the floor and ignore it, then portal the laser to activate the light bridge, then press the button again, then walk over and get it.
Sounds like a lot of steps to perform but I guess there's always a different way.

As for the third chamber, and as well as the rest of the map, I'd say you did it all quite intuitively without any major stumbling. And yeah, 4th and 5th chambers, a wrong portal placement means go back and get a new cube
. I guess it's annoying cuz you know you're just about done. At least it wasn't that far to go
.
I don't know if there's much more I can do with Lift Stairs because the general idea is
when the stair lifts, it kills the portal behind it. Or basically "stairs down to portal" vs. "stairs up cannot portal". It can also block certain elements, but the player might catch on quickly to the mechanics of the concept and be able to anticipate the next move too easily.
Thanks for sharing the video.

The very start had me properly facepalming, but I enjoyed fiddling around with the whole thing really, thanksHere's a fun solution I came up with.
