[PTI] Orange Crush
Quote from SkyFerret on March 31, 2013, 12:18 amThose spiky crushers look so nice as if they're just sitting there idle. Or are they? This puzzle is not a very long one, but there's enough crushers to get past. Some laser fields also. Cubes, laser cubes, buttons and speed gel to get past them. Most of them.

Here's my blindrun:

5/5. Excellent.
Thanks for mapping!
Cheers!

Quote from SkyFerret on March 31, 2013, 1:20 pmThere wasn't really any unintended solutions. Just a slight variance when
you were passing the second set of crushers. You did a parallel speed run with the 2 portal beside each other, and then hit the ramp. The intent was to use part of the first speed path, and go into a portal on the wall at the start of the course (same area as the gel dropper), then shoot out the portal by the ramp. But either way is nearly the same.
When you got the second cube, you got it pretty close to the way it was intended.
I guess it was after the fact you noticed the door and the button are OR connected. The "auto-detect player" and the button are OR connected. I was counting on the player to walk to the door and see it's "auto-detect". I try to make everything as intuitive as possible. Sorry about that one.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing your video.

Quote from Logic on March 31, 2013, 2:50 pmIt took a while to get gameplay where I didn't f*ck things up, but there it is!

Anyways, the map is good but I feel like there are some flaws. There were too many times where I was crushed while speeding down the first/second corridor in (close to) full speed. I think this was made in a extended PTI mod, so I guess you're bound to it's limits, but I feel like there isn't enough time to speed through. I also think it's virtually impossible to cross the paths while being close to the crushers, something I found really annoying.
I couldn't find a good solution to the second puzzle. I might have missed something really simple here, but I still have no idea on how to actually solve it. I'm really interested in the intended solution since I had to rely on exploits to get through this part.
The final part was probably the least buggy but I think theres a problem with the dropper not acting as it should. I might be wrong on this but take a look at it just in case.
Ohh, one more thing. I found a pretty weird bug at the last part by placing the lightbridge over the buttons. Not really game-breaking but pretty strange x)

Overall a good map though

Quote from SkyFerret on March 31, 2013, 9:38 pm@Logic: That was pretty much the intended solution. You mentioned you got crushed too many times on the first and second corridors. I tested it to make sure distance and speed will get through. I'm using the Bee Mod, and as far as I can see there's no limits to any of the physics.
As for being virtually impossible to cross the paths while being close to the crushers,
the trigger is set inside the kill zone. That's the jist of it all. The crushers look to be sitting idle but there not. They're ready to crush the player and you're not supposed to be able to get past them without speed gel. If the triggers were placed to where you walk up to them, or closer to the player, this means the player could trigger them, move back, wait until the cycle starts to finish, and walk past them.
Besides, this way you don't have to listen to them all going while playing the game.
The only thing that wasn't really intended was getting the second cube.
You reached and pulled it through the grated barrier. I forgot about that bug that allows that. The solution was to walk up to that door and go through the portalable wall behind it. Yes, the door will open by auto-detect. The door is opened by the button "and" auto-detect player which are OR gate connected. I was hoping the player would walk up to the door and find it opens automatically as well as using the button.
As for the last part, there shouldn't be anything wrong with any of the droppers whether gel or cube. if you're referring to the last cube dropper,
it's supposed to be like that. You must go rescue the cube from getting fizzled, via the light bridge. Just like you did
And that last part, not really a bug. I've seen it before.
It just triggers a continuous "yes-no-yes-no". That can even be done with lasers and laser collectors. I forget exactly how, but a perpetual "yes no" can be triggered as soon as the game starts and laser emitters will be going Panga Panga Panga Panga.

Anyhow, sorry for being long-winded. Thanks for taking the time to upload your video.
Oh, and maybe I'll upload a video showing the intended solution.

Another great one....thanks for continued creating...
